So the interns are home from school for the Labor Day holiday weekend when they got a tip about a sale on backpacks at a local retail store.

On their second trip to stock up for next year's End of Summer Celebration, a customer asked them why they were buying so many backpacks. They explained that the backpacks are given away in the Kid's Zone at the End of Summer Celebration as part of a game where you pick a lollipop and if the lollipop stick is marked you win one of the backpacks.

While they were at the register paying for the backpacks that same customer came up to them and handed them a $20.00 bill and said every kid deserves a backpack I hope this helps.

You cannot be anything but humbled when a complete stranger appreciates and supports your efforts to make our community a better place to live.

The interns have been hitting the books hard since returning to school and they sent this photo from last month of Steve Sumner of Gannon Associates Insurance presenting the company's annual donation to David Jarrett in support of this year's End of Summer Celebration that was on August 22nd.

Gannon Associates Insurance has been the presenting sponsor of the End of Summer Celebration since 2015 and a sponsor of the Sayre Borough Events Program since 1999.

With all of the excitement on Friday and Saturday last week, we didn't get a chance to acknowledge Yanuzzi's Restaurant and The Original Italian Grille for their continued support of the Borough' Events Program.

It has been a long couple days and even longer Summer for the Interns.

They worked their tails off during the last 10 weeks and now it is time to move on to the next phase of their education.

Bonnie and Clyde as they are known around the office will forever be part of the events program family and we wish them the best a luck on their future endeavors.
