It's that time of year to make sure you have all the Property Tax Exemptions you qualify for! You have until March 15th to apply (or 30 days after receiving a Change of Value Notice)!!!
Homestead Exemption - If you own and reside in your home you may qualify for a Homestead Exemption for that property. This Exemption will deduct $1,000 from your property's Assessed Value resulting in savings on your Property Tax Bill. Once applied, this exemption stays on the property as long as you continue to own and reside there.
Double Homestead Exemption - If you qualify for a Homestead Exemption and make less than $30,000 Annual Gross Household Income, you may qualify for up to an additional $1,000 deduction from your property's Assessed Value. This exemption must be applied for annually until you reach the age of 65.
Senior Valuation Limitation ("Senior Freeze") - If you qualify for the Homestead Exemption, are over 65, and have an Annual Gross Household Income of less than $79,700 (Beckham County for 2025), you may qualify for the Senior Freeze. This exemption "locks in" your property's Assessed Value to what that is the year it is applied. This means if the Fair Market Value of your home should increase due to the market, your property's taxable value remains the same.
100% Disabled Veteran's Exemption - If you qualify for the Homestead Exemption and have a certified letter stating you are a 100% Disabled Veteran, you may qualify for a 100% reduction of Property Tax on the property in which you have the Homestead Exemption.
