While students enjoy a well-deserved summer break, the training continues for the Sayre Public Schools Police Department.

Chief Andrea Weygand recently participated in Use of Force training, instructed by the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) alongside officers from several partner agencies. Ongoing professional development and realistic scenario-based training help ensure our department remains prepared to respond safely, professionally, and effectively to the challenges it may face.

We appreciate the Elk City Police Department, FLETC instructors, Western Technology Center, Sayre Public Schools staff and students, and all those who helped make this valuable training opportunity possible.

Starting November 1, 2025, our Domestic Violence prosecutors will have a new tool to hold abusers accountable.

Under Senate Bill 607, statements a victim makes to officers when they respond to a call or in a protective-order hearing within a week of a domestic incident can be admissible in court, even if the victim cannot or does not want to testify.

This change in the law will hopefully help bridge the gap when victims fear retaliation or later recant.

To our law enforcement partners in Oklahoma County, please switch your body-worn camera on when responding to DV calls! It will assist with prosecuting abusers when their victim doesn't want to testify.

UPDATE (Oct. 10): Law enforcement has confirmed Logan is no longer missing. Our campus community continues to grieve this loss.

The Southwestern Oklahoma State University Campus Police Department is requesting the community’s assistance in locating Logan Musil, a SWOSU student. He was recently reported missing by a family member.

Logan was last seen on September 12, 2025, at 11:48 am on SWOSU’s Weatherford Campus. At that time, he was wearing a camo undershirt, a black & white plaid jacket with a white hood, dark gray pants, and brown shoes, and was wearing glasses. Logan frequently carries a skateboard with a red bottom with graphics in the center.

Logan is 18 years old, standing 5 feet 9 inches tall, and weighs 130 pounds, with blue eyes and black shoulder-length hair.

Anyone with information about Logan’s whereabouts is asked to call the SWOSU Police Department at 580-774-3111.
