Great way to end the night, as the evening slows down, we would like to take a moment to say thank you to all the men and women that serve as police, firemen and firewomen, and as ems/emts. It is your selfless dedication that allows us to sleep soundly at night knowing you have our six.

As a NJ Land Surveyor, (and Sayreville resident from '04-'20), I often see S&F bricks in people's yards throughout the areas in which I work. Just saw this style, for the first time, in Metuchen, last week! (Two of the same part of the people's walk, so...wasn't going to 'collect' it)!
Here are a couple of additions to the Morgan-NJ.org site for alumni of Jesse Selover School. A third one about the school's history is in the works but Photoshop has decided to stop working at the moment so there is a temporary roadblock. In the meantime, enjoy and please help fill in some of the missing info. http://www.morgan-nj.org/blog/sample-page/morgans-people-places/people/jesse-selover-school-faculty-and-staff/
Does anyone know how old this bottle might be? We found it buried when they were putting in our inground pool.
What street was the driveway to the old drive-in theater on?
On this Memorial Day, I'm remembering the loss of two family members--cousins who lived only one block apart from each other--who died for our Country during World War II. Both have streets named in their honor in Sayreville, and I wanted to share their stories. My cousin, and Godfather,Joseph Mochen, was killed while flying in formation at Gunther Field in Montgomery, Alabama. He was an involved in a training program for French Pilots. A trainee approaching the formation, misjudged his speed, striking Joseph's left wing, causing Joseph's plane to spin out of control. He was able to eject, but his chute never opened, and he fell to the ground. It was believed that his head was hit by the spinning plane, rendering him unconscious. My cousin, Peter Mochen, was killed during the Battle of Leyte when his ship (USS Birmingham) came to the rescue of the burning ship (USS Princeton). While involved in putting out the flames on the USS Princeton, an explosion occurred, and Peter was killed instantly along with many other sailors aboard his ship.
The Sayreville Historical Society May meeting is cancelled. The Sayreville Historical Society Museum is closed for the Month of May. The June 6,2020 Road Trip to the Battleship New Jersey is still scheduled, a determination will be made May 15, 2020. Please stay safe.
