Registration for FIRE FACTS SEMINAR #28 is now open!

For over 30 years, City Fire has sponsored a FREE, two day “Fire Facts” seminar for local fire officials. Each seminar is based on a relevant topic, instructed by a recognized expert. We have been fortunate enough to have some of the most knowledgeable speakers from around the country share their unique experiences and knowledge.

This year's topic is NFPA 72 FIRE ALARM: Inspection, Testing & Maintenance.

FEMA Federal Emergency Management Agency will be at the Senior Center Thursday, September 16, from 9am-4:30pm.

🇺🇸 The “First Salute” is a long standing tradition in the United States Army where a newly commissioned officer gifts a silver dollar to the first enlisted soldier that salutes him.

Firefighter Filiberth Ananta had a very busy 2020. He joined the Metuchen Fire Department in February, then graduated from Kean University and Seton Hall Army ROTC where he received his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Army, Military Police branch. He attended the Middlesex County Fire Academy over the summer of COVID and fought his first structure fire on Christmas Eve. Now he is preparing to leave for his first active duty assignment in the Republic of South Korea. 🇺🇸🇰🇷

Fire Chief Rob Donnan joined the Metuchen Fire Department in June of 1988 after his honorable discharge from the United States Army. He was a Combat Medic and held the enlisted rank of Specialist. His first duty assignment was 35 years ago in 1986, in the Republic of South Korea. 🇺🇸🇰🇷

Filiberth asked the Chief if he would be his “First Salute” and of course the answer was a resounding "YES!" On Friday, January 1st 2021, with a small group of his closest brother & sister firefighters in attendance, US Army Second Lieutenant Filiberth Ananta received his First Salute from Specialist Robert Donnan and then gifted him the traditional silver dollar.

We congratulate and thank both men for their service to our Nation and our Community. Good luck Filiberth, stay safe and do us proud. A locker will be waiting for you in the firehouse when you return.

Anne Marie Green, Director of Business, participated in CIT NJ's Annual Year End Forum at the Middlesex County Fire Academy. This event brings CIT program providers from around the state together to meet and celebrate their achievements. Anne Marie is pictured with Ed Dobleman, NJ-CIT State Coordinator.

Rob Hilliard, Lewis Environmental Director of Business Development and co-chair of the PA TRANSCAER team will be attending the New Jersey TransCAER meeting at the Middlesex County Fire Academy in Sayerville, NJ on November 14th. Since 1986, TRANSCAER® (Transportation Community Awareness Emergency Response) has focused on assisting communities to prepare for and respond to a possible hazardous material transportation incident.
