Congratulations to Bhasha Patel from Sayreville War Memorial High School for being this year’s recipient of the “The Middlesex County Utilities Authority Environmental Stewardship Scholarship”

Each year, this scholarship is presented to a graduating Senior, selected by school staff, who shows enthusiasm and excellence in the following areas: Environmental Science, Sciences, Technology, or various related trades. This student also has demonstrated an interest in community involvement and extracurricular activities.

The scholarship was presented by the Plant General Superintendent, Lisa Oberreiter, who is also a Sayreville War Memorial High School Alumni.

Today, the MCUA was invited to Piscataway Magnet School for their annual Career Day!

As a vocational school, Middlesex County Magnet Schools gives students a head start on successful careers by allowing them to learn hands-on skills and trades in their chosen fields. It’s inspiring to see students already preparing for their futures through career-focused education and real-world experience.

Our team enjoyed connecting with students and sharing more about what the MCUA does to support our community and protect the environment every day. From waste management to sustainability initiatives, we were proud to showcase the important work that helps keep Middlesex County clean and green.

Have an upcoming Career Day that you’d like the MCUA to attend? Feel free to send us a message — we’d love to connect with your students!

We’re still in awe of the beautiful artwork shared by our community members. Thank you all for helping keep the spirit and importance of Earth Day alive!

Today we recognize National Skilled Trades Day — a time to celebrate the hardworking professionals who keep our communities running every single day.

From wastewater treatment to solid waste management, skilled trades play a critical role in protecting public health, preserving our environment, and ensuring a sustainable future. These essential workers operate behind the scenes, maintaining systems that many of us rely on but rarely think about — from clean water flowing through our taps to the safe and responsible disposal of waste.

Working in wastewater and solid waste management takes dedication, technical expertise, and a commitment to service. It’s not just a job — it’s a career that directly impacts the well-being of our communities and the health of our planet.

Today, we thank and recognize all those in the skilled trades, especially those in environmental services, for the vital work they do every day. Your efforts truly make a difference. 🌎💧♻️

🌍💧 Happy Earth Day from Your Local Wastewater & Solid Waste Team! 💚♻️

Today, we’re celebrating the behind-the-scenes heroes of a cleaner planet — yes, that includes us! From the water that goes down your drain to the trash you toss away, we’re here 24/7 making sure it’s handled safely, sustainably, and responsibly.

🚿 Every drop counts: Our wastewater treatment process helps return clean water back to the environment, protecting rivers, wildlife, and our communities.

🗑️ Waste not, want not: Through smart solid waste management, recycling, and waste reduction efforts, we’re working to keep landfills smaller and resources in use longer.

🌱 This Earth Day, you can join us by:
• Being mindful of what goes down the drain (no wipes, grease, or chemicals!)
• Recycling right and reducing single-use items
• Conserving water whenever you can

It might not be glamorous, but it’s essential — and together, we’re making a real difference every single day.

Here’s to cleaner water, less waste, and a greener future! 🌎✨
