The Middlesex County Utilities Authority is proud to host the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Youth Inclusion Initiative at our plant this summer.

This award-winning program empowers youth from overburdened communities through hands-on learning and exposure to careers in environmental protection. During their visit to MCUA, participants toured our wastewater treatment plant, explored our Laboratory, and met with a panel of employees who shared their experiences and answered questions about careers in the wastewater industry.

We are honored to support programs like the Youth Inclusion Initiative that inspire the next generation of environmental professionals and help build a more sustainable future for our communities.

Happy Fourth of July from the MCUA!

As we celebrate Independence Day, we're also honoring a historic milestone—America's 250th year. For two and a half centuries, our nation has been built on the values of freedom, innovation, service, and community.

Today, we recognize the generations of Americans who have helped shape our country and the communities that continue to make it strong. We wish everyone a safe, enjoyable, and meaningful Fourth of July as we celebrate our nation's past, present, and bright future.

Happy Independence Day! 🎆✨

📝 Today’s Maintenance report: rescued one fawn from a tank behind the Annex building.

Then rescued the same fawn from a second tank five minutes later.

Special thanks to our Summer Help, James Gangi, and Carmine Iemma from our Maintenance Department for proving that some deer need a little extra supervision. 🦌

Congratulations to Andrew Machurov from East Brunswick High School for being this year’s recipient of “The Middlesex County Utilities Authority/Robert Leslie Environmental Stewardship Scholarship.”

Each year, this scholarship is presented to a graduating senior, selected by school staff, who demonstrates enthusiasm and excellence in Environmental Science, the sciences, technology, or related trades. The recipient also shows a strong commitment to community involvement and extracurricular activities.

A particularly meaningful moment this year was the renaming of the scholarship award to honor Robert Leslie, the longtime Landfill Engineer for the Middlesex County Utilities Authority, who retired last year after an outstanding 38-year career with the Authority.

The scholarship was presented by Solid Waste Division Manager Paul Clark, Landfill Engineer Chris Kellar, and retired Landfill Engineer Robert Leslie.

Congratulations Andrew🎓 📜
