🚨 NOW RECRUITING – Swiftwater Rescue Team 🚨

The Middlesex County Swiftwater Rescue Team is seeking dedicated, motivated, and community-minded individuals to join our specialized water rescue branch.

🌊 As part of our team, you will:
✔️ Train in swiftwater and flood rescue operations
✔️ Work alongside highly skilled emergency responders
✔️ Gain advanced technical rescue certifications
✔️ Serve and protect the residents of Middlesex County during critical emergencies

👩‍🚒 Requirements:
• Must be at least 18 years old
• Must be able to meet physical and training requirements
• Minimum of Swiftwater Operations Certification required.
• Strong commitment to teamwork and public safety

Middlesex County Urban Search and Rescue Team along with the 11 other UASI USAR teams participated in our annual large scale exercise at the newly constructed training facility “The Bunker”. As always, it was a great opportunity to improve our skills and work cooperatively with other teams to hone interagency operations.

The members of Middlesex County Urban Search and Rescue Team are deeply saddened by the loss of Plainfield Fire Division NJs FF Marques Hudson. FF Hudson died this morning in the line of duty at a structure fire. A number of the members of out USAR team are also Plainfield Firefighters. Our condolences go out to our brothers at this time. Flood Safety Tips

The next storm system will bring high winds, drenching rain and flooding to areas of the state. NOW is the time to be prepared!

📌Here are a few tips to stay safe:
• Build an emergency kit/go-bag in case you have to leave immediately or if utility services are cut off.
• Learn how to receive weather alerts.
• If you live in areas prone to flooding, move vehicles to higher ground.
• Plan how you will leave and where you will go if you are advised to evacuate by local officials.
• Keep important documents in a waterproof container. Create password-protected digital copies.
• Protect your property. Move valuables to higher levels. De-clutter drains and gutters. Install check valves. Check sump pumps and consider installing a backup battery.
• Secure loose items in your yard such as garbage bins and lawn decorations.
• Know how to report a power outage to your utility company. Learn more at https://nj.gov/njoem/plan-prepare/public-utilities.shtml.
• NEVER drive through flooded areas. Water may be deeper than you think. Turn Around, Don't Drown!

⚠️Flood Warning vs Flood Watch
A flood WARNING means TAKE ACTION.
A flood WATCH means BE PREPARED.
When a Warning occurs, it means flooding is imminent or already occurring. When a Flood Watch is in effect, it means flooding is possible in your area.

On Tuesday Members from Middlesex County Urban Search and Rescue Team were requested by Edison Division of Fire at a Multi Alarm building Collapse. Arriving units found an approximately 200x30 section of an interior wall had collapsed. Initially 2 additional UASI resources were requested Newark Fire Department and Elizabeth Firefighters FMBA Local 9. The entire building was evacuated and Searches were conducted for any unaccounted for employees. Search K9’s showed areas of interest that were searched & cleared by members of the combined units which make up the UASI Metro Strike Team.

Earlier this week members of the Middlesex County Urban Search and Rescue Team joined with the 10 other UASI Urban Search and Rescue teams at Middlesex County Fire academy for our annual Multi Agency Disaster Drill.
