🎉 That’s a wrap on National Fire Prevention Week! 🚒🔥

closed out an incredible week by welcoming students back for fire station tours, a review of key safety lessons, and an official swearing-in ceremony for our new Junior Fire Marshals!

With this year's first-grade class, we are thrilled to announce that 449 students have now completed the Scappoose Fire District Junior Fire Marshal program. These programs build foundational safety habits that stick with kids for life, and we are so proud to watch this tradition grow.

A massive thank you to Grant Watts Elementary for your continued partnership. We look forward to keeping this tradition alive for years to come! 🤝✨

National Fire Prevention Week is in full swing in Scappoose!

started the week at Grant Watts Elementary with a fire safety assembly for the first graders. 149 students this year will participate in the Scappoose Fire District Junior Fire Marshal program. Later this week, students will complete fire safety activity books and tour the fire station.

Scappoose Fire is proud to continue this tradition in the community.

This month, one of stepped into a big role. Dr. Miguel Bautista, Division Chief, was sworn in as the President of the International Association of Arson Investigators - Oregon Chapter 31 in Newport during the 2026 Advanced Arson Training Seminar. As President, he will be guiding overall administration, supervising chapter activities, and presiding over board and general membership meetings. The organization supports fire investigators in the state of Oregon and represents the state at of Oregon at the International Association of Arson Investigators conferences and meetings.

This evening, responded to a brush fire at milepost 16 on Highway 30. Upon arrival, the brush fire was approximately 1/2 an acre in size. Firefighters were able to quickly get the fire under control. One east bound lane (towards Portland) of Highway 30 was closed for emergency operations. No structures were threatened by this fire.

Scappoose Fire District was supported by two engines from Oregon Department of Forestry

This fire serves as a reminder that we are still in our wildfire season and although temperatures are coming down, it is still very dry. So it is important to stay fire smart and keep our community safe.

A small remembrance ceremony will take place this Friday 9/11 at the Scappoose Station. Members in attendance will start reading of the names of the 412 emergency workers who died after responding to the twin towers that day at 6:59 a.m. (the time the first tower collapsed).

343 FDNY, 37 Port Authority of NY NJ police, 23 NYPD, 8 EMS and 1 patrolman from the New York Fire Patrol.

This is open to the public to attend.
