The goal of the Portland Firefighters Children’s Burn Foundation is to provide relief to burn survivors and their families, to prevent burn injuries through education and training, and to help facilitate education about burn injuries and burn recovery.

Congratulations to L3894 Member, Firefighter/EMT Frank Provencher on completing his Probationary period with the Scarborough Fire Department!

Frank came to us as an internal hire last year as a part of Probationary Firefighter School Class 04.

Frank completed the Live-In Program here in Scarborough, where he lived in the Pine Point Fire Company Station and graduated with his Associates Degree in Fire Science

Frank is assigned to Shift 3, Oak Hill Station and is currently attending Paramedic School through the United Training Center.

Congratulations to L3894 member, Probationary Firefighter Amanda Downing on obtaining her Paramedic certification!

Amanda came to us late last year as a part of the Probationary Firefighter School 05. For her first few months, she juggled the probationary school, paramedic school, clinical time, and orientation on shift.

Amanda completed the Kennebec Valley Community College program along with another one of our members.

Amanda is assigned to Shift 1, Dunstan Station.

Congratulations Amanda on achieving this milestone!

The All Hands has been struck for an address on Whipple Ln in District 6.

Ambulance 2 has fire showing from a 3 bay, 1-1/2 story detached garage on arrival.

Shift 3 is on duty.

Three L3894 E-Board members are in Bangor this week attending the 2026 PFFM Education Conference.

Topics this year include Occupational Cancer, Behaviorial Health, Labor Negotiations, and Workplace issues.

These presentations are imperative for our members to remain up to date with the latest information in the State and Federal levels.

L3894 would like to recognize our members on this EMS Week!

National EMS Week 2026 is from May 17 to May 23. This year’s theme is "Improving Outcomes, Together”

In no better way to fit the theme, multiple L3894 recently received the Maine EMS 2025 Phoenix Award for their efforts in successful resuscitations of cardiac arrest patients in Scarborough.

These patients later walked out of the hospital with a second chance at life.

Thank you to our members for making a difference in our community everyday!

L3894 members extended our deepest condolences to the Searsmont and surrounding fire departments for their loss today.

Our thoughts are also with the multiple other Firefighters who remain hospitalized in unknown condition tonight.

Shift 2 companies responded to the MaineHealth Scarborough Campus for a Fire Alarm Activation this morning. The call was upgraded to a Deskbox after callers reported an odor of smoke in the building.

Additional Scarborough companies with Cash Corner Fire Station Ladder 45 worked with maintenance staff to locate and isolate the source of the odor.

The building is approximately 100,000 square feet and requires a large amount of personnel to investigate.

Thank you to South Portland Professional Fire Fighters Local 1476 and S**o Professional Firefighters who handled additional calls in town during this incident.
