Today is the start of National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 10-16, 2022). 60 Control dispatchers of Westchester County’s Emergency Communications Center have dispatched Scarsdale firefighters to thousands of emergency responses since retaining full-time dispatch services for the Village of Scarsdale in 2011. These communications specialists serve as an integral part of our ability to provide emergency services and ensure that every available firefighter can immediately respond to calls for help. Please join the Department of Emergency Services in honoring the dedicated professionals in our Emergency Communications Center (ECC) ,aka 60 Control, during National Public Safety Telecommunicators Week (April 10-16, 2022).
The ECC never closes, working 24/7/365 to answer calls for assistance and dispatching many of the fire and EMS agencies in the County. These well trained professionals provide lifesaving communications for residents, visitors and the workforce Westchester. It dispatches over 80 of the fire and EMS agencies in Westchester County.
DES Commissioner, Richard Wishnie stated, “It takes a special person to maintain calm out of chaos. They answer the 911 calls during someone’s worst moments. These men and woman provide empathy and guidance and collect vital information under enormous pressure. I am very proud to be part of this department and in supporting the dedicated staff that provide these vital services. "
