Obsessed with my current read - Feels Like Home by Courtney Walsh

Most recent book recommendation - The Measure by Nikki Erlick

I was at a retreat over the weekend and met a handful of new women. None of them knows the depths of my book loving heart or habits. One of them was telling me about her book club’s picks and that she was looking for something different to read because it felt like they read the same kind of stories over and over.

Based on what she shared - I pulled out this backlist book recommendation for The Measure. This June 2022 was a huge hit and is probably in the top ten most recommended books that I share personally with people of all ages, genders and genre-loving styles.

The Measure is absolutely fascinating to me and I think everyone can enjoy this book. I’ve even gotten a few of my reluctant reader teenagers to read it!

The Measure poses the question - would you choose to find out the length of your life? In this fiction novel, we see eight different strangers navigating the same choice when wooden boxes shows up on their doorsteps with the answer to how many days they have left contained inside. What follows is an exploration of the collective frenzy as these boxes are discovered, the effects of the choice and the fallout from either decision across relationships and society.

It you’ve not read this one - I highly encourage you to pick it up!

This past weekend - I went on a spiritual retreat which gave me lots of time to reflect, pray and a big chunk of solitude & silence time that I spent walking outside in nature. It was so good for my soul.

I used my phone to capture some moments from the weekend - it was colder and windier than expected but it was still gorgeous out.

I was able to see an early screening of the new Sense & Sensibility adaptation tonight with some friends. And we LOVED it. The early screening was a comfy pajamas encouraged showing and came with some fun swag.

I already can’t wait to watch it again.

I adore book events and seeing all the special touches that the organizers and authors bring to it. This pre-pub day launch for Home for the Homicides did not disappoint.

It was a packed room at O’Tooles and About Time Bookstore crushed it when it came to pulling off a fun night. If you get a chance to see these authors while on tour, you have to take it. They’re hilarious and you can tell they have a blast working together.

This book is a mixed genre book - bringing murder into a hallmark vibes setting and I’m so here for it.

Last night, I got to attend the book launch party for Ann Marie Farino’s memoir, Chronic Chaos: A Son’s Addiction, A Mother’s Love, and Her Quest to Find Joy.

The memoir released today so is officially available for everyone to read. Yesterday, I was able to chat with Ann Marie for a few minutes, I loved hearing more about the book, especially the why behind what she hopes readers will take away. Check out her answer for yourself.
