Starting off the week right - made it to 6 am circuit Pilates and now letting myself read for an hour before work.

I’ve been dying to get my hands on this newest novel from Sarah Damoff. Lucky to me it was sitting in the “Hot Picks” display right when I walked into the library yesterday.

Clearly, it needed to come home with me.

I’m back with some advance notice on 3 amazing book events that you will want to make time for. All 3 of these are events I’d gladly pay to attend - but the fun part is they’re free!

Swipe to see the details. I’ve tagged the organizations and authors so you can go to their accounts for even more details.

And yes, I’m aware that the one is technically in the suburbs (Evanston) but it’s close enough to get the Chicago label for me so don’t come at me!

Printer’s Row Lit Fest is an annual free book festival in the printer’s row neighborhood. This is the 41st year. I highly recommend it.

They have panels and programming for ALL ages, tons of vendors and it’s such a fun day. And this year, I signed up to volunteer on Saturday - so maybe I’ll see ya there?!?

If you loved Pachinko (who didn’t?!?), come see author Min Hin Lee talk about her new release American Hagwon that releases on September 29.

This event is hosted by FAN - Family Action Network and will take place at Evanston Township High School.

I’ve been dying to see Adam Grant speak in person for years so I’m thrilled that his upcoming book tour includes a Chicago stop. If you’re not familiar with him, he is an organizational psychologist with profound insights that help us be better leaders, friends, and humans.

This takes place on Thursday October 15 at Francis Parker School and is hosted by FAN - Family Action Network

I love reading (always have) but book events have become one of my fav ways to experience books & reading with others, as well as meet and hear from favorite and new authors.

If that’s you too, stick around as I share not only what I’m reading but which events I’m willing to leave the house to attend.

Little Sunday recap - we packed so much into the last week. There was some stress with multiple car issues that I’m not even ready to talk about. There was some sadness about the college kids leaving. And there is still a mountain of work to get done both at home & work (I’m interviewing candidates for two open roles on my team).

But in the midst of that - there was an ENORMOUS amount of good moments full of joy like a long overdue dinner date with my bestie to small moments like a pop up flower shop after Pilates.

Feeling grateful for this life ✨

Fridays are for sharing books & coffee with friends.

One of my fav things to do is to find friends who are avid readers and share books with them. This stack of thrillers was loaned out to friends and recently returned to me just in time to show up to a coffee date to give them to a different friend.

I love being a giant book nerd and seeing someone else’s eyes light up at a stack of books. It might be nerdy, but it’s my kind of fun.

Also - swipe to see our stunning lattes from Arwa Yemeni Coffee®

- I got the Yemeni Latte (the camel one) and she got the Sand Dune Latte. Both were delicious.

I’m out of office today - spending the day at home helping my college age kids get packed to return to school.

But first, I’m sneaking in some reading, coffee and puppy snuggles.

My book club meets on Wednesday so I have a lot of reading to get done since I just started this last night.

What are y’all reading and up to this week?

✨Upcoming Book Release✨

Reality TV for Snobs by Ali Barthwell Ali Barthwell releases this coming Tuesday.

I have a confession - I am not a big reality TV fan. I have literally never seen an episode of Survivor. When I saw one of my fav creators was going to be on Traitors this month, I had never heard of it. So this book is clearly for me!

Turn skeptics into fans and fans into scholars with this smart, entertaining guide to 20 influential reality shows, from The Real World to The Traitors.

Find out everything you need to know to pass as a reality TV superfan—from fun factoids to insightful analysis—without watching a single show!

I suspect it’s also a great book for those who love the shows and want to relive the cultural influence and iconic moments of those shows.

Thanks to Ali Barthwell for the copy!

Chicago friends - I saw Ali is at Three Avenues Bookshop this coming Tuesday for her book release. Swipe to see all the details if you want to go to her pub day book tour stop!

Join Ali Barthwell at Three Avenues Bookshop in Chicago this coming Tuesday, Aug 25 from 6:30-8 to celebrate the launch of her new book - Reality TV for snobs.

One of the best things to happen this past year is that I was able to break cycles of chronic pain and inability to exercise. Two surgeries last November (a complete hysterectomy and a bunionectomy) opened up doors for me to be consistent and live in ways I didn’t think were possible.

I’ve become a morning person - you can catch me at the 6 am Pilates class by myself. And my first cup of coffee gets paired with a few chapters in my current read, outside if possible.

It’s amazing what consistent sleep and lack of debilitating pain & bleeding will open up in terms of discipline. Starting my day with intention (hello breath work), community (I made friends at my classes) and joy (reading & coffee!) have literally completely changed my life.

I’m still a sunset girl but wow, I do love starting my day with sunrises

Is there a better combo than coffee & a book?!?
