District 54 social media accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and YouTube) inform parents, staff and community members about our achievements, events and activities. We expect comments will be respectful, factual and constructive. Personal insults against any individual will be deleted, as will posts that violate the privacy of others or the social media platform's rules. Comments not consistent

with the purposes of our accounts will also be deleted. Examples include unauthorized commercial solicitations; posts that bully, intimidate or harass; content that is hateful, threatening, pornographic, or contains violence; or any post that is unlawful, misleading, vulgar, malicious or discriminatory, any posts that contain personally identifiable information, medical information or other confidential information, or if the comments interfere with the district including threatening posts or posts that endanger the health or safety of any students or employees. If more than one post by the same individual must be deleted, the district reserves the right to block that individual from our accounts. District 54 social media accounts are followed by students in our schools. It is our belief that we must model respectful and kind behavior on these accounts.

Pizza is $3 per slice and sold during all lunch periods. We accept cash and electronic payments. A convenience fee will be added to all electronic transactions.

No Food Deliveries Allowed

With a focus on student and staff safety, District 54 will not allow food delivery services (including, but not limited to, GrubHub, DoorDash, and local restaurants) to our schools. We will continue to have hot lunch days, which are planned events, organized and supervised by school or PTA volunteers. However, we will no longer accept other outside food deliveries to keep our schools secure.

Motorized Bikes, Scooters, and Skateboards Prohibited

Electric bikes, scooters and skateboards are not permitted on District 54 property, due to safety concerns including the potential for accidents and the possibility of fire associated with such devices. This applies to students, as well as to family members and friends who may be picking up or dropping off students at school.

Addams has the Visitor Aware management system.

- When you visit the school you will still ring the doorbell and be buzzed into the vestibule. If you are just dropping off a lunch or some other item, you can put your student’s name on the item (labels will be available) and leave it on the designated shelving unit.

- If you need to enter the main office during school hours, then you will stop at the self-serve tablet in the vestibule and check in as a visitor.

- At these tablets, you will have your photo taken, type in your phone number and enter your destination in the building.

- Instructions on the tablet will prompt you to take your photo. During this step, you will be asked to check a box allowing us to use facial recognition to check you in faster on a future visit. It’s up to you whether or not you check this box.

- If it’s your first time using the tablet, you will need to scan your ID. The camera for the ID scan is located at the top left side, behind the tablet. Both driver’s licenses and state IDs are accepted. SCAN the back of ID.

- The system runs that information against FBI and Interpol lists, predator databases and active court orders to ensure the individuals we are admitting to our buildings are safe.

- If you are cleared, a badge with your name, photo and destination will be printed for you to wear while you are in the building. School staff and the District 54 Safety Team will be alerted to anyone who is flagged.

School hours are 7:30 a.m. – 2:15 p.m. with the first class beginning at 7:40 am. Please note: beginning Wednesday, August 19, every Wednesday is designated for staff development. Students are dismissed 30 minutes early at 1:45 p.m.

Addams office hours are Monday - Friday from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM.

For students who are eligible for busing and choose to stay after school hours for sports and/or clubs, an activity bus is available to take your child home once after school activities begin on Monday, August 24.

The after school buses begin loading students at 3:50 PM and depart Addams at 4:00 PM. Please encourage your child to take advantage of the activity bus and stay at Addams for our great extra-curricular offerings.

Please note, activity buses DO NOT drop off students at their regular bus stop. Instead, their drop-off locations are in the vicinity of what would be 2 or 3 regular bus stops. Students will learn which bus to board and which stop is best for them.
