🚨 Great training day with our friends at Live Oak Fire Department! 👶

Today we welcomed a team of specialists from Methodist Hospital System to train on newborn care, imminent delivery, and OB emergencies — high-acuity, low-frequency calls that our crews need to be ready for at a moment's notice. From recognizing complications to hands-on delivery skills, our medics and firefighters worked side by side to sharpen these critical skills.

Huge thanks to Live Oak FD for partnering with us and to the team from Methodist Hospital System for sharing their expertise. This is what it looks like when agencies come together to make sure every patient — even the tiniest ones — gets the best possible care. 💙

City of Schertz Lifts Evacuations Following Overnight Flooding

SCHERTZ, TX (July 16, 2026) — Following overnight flooding and an assessment by public safety personnel, the City of Schertz has determined it is safe for residents to return to the previously evacuated areas.
The mandatory evacuation for Pecan Grove RV Park and the voluntary evacuations for Lone Oak, Rio Vista, Buffalo Valley South, and areas along southern FM 78 and FM 1518 to Lisa Meadows have been lifted. The temporary shelter at the Schertz Civic Center has also been closed. The City appreciates the partnership of all agencies and volunteers who helped support residents during the evacuation.
As residents return home, please be patient as City crews continue removing barricades throughout the day. There is currently no estimated timeframe for when all barricades will be removed. Do not move or drive around barricades at low water crossings. Barricades remain in place to protect the public and will only be removed when it is safe to do so.
Please continue to use caution while traveling. Several low water crossings in other areas of the City remain closed due to high water. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown.
The City of Schertz extends its sincere appreciation to our Police, Fire, EMS, Public Works, Parks, Utilities, Engineering, Communications, Code Enforcement, Building Officials, and all City staff who worked throughout the night to protect our community. Their quick response, professionalism, and dedication helped ensure residents received timely information, evacuations were carried out safely, and impacted areas were continuously monitored.
We also want to thank our residents for their patience, cooperation, and willingness to abide by evacuation notices and road closures. Your partnership played an important role in helping keep our community safe during this event.

Overnight, Cibolo Creek rose to approximately 22.5 feet. Around 3 a.m., the creek crested, and water levels have since begun to recede. Conditions are expected to continue improving throughout the day.

Please use caution if you are traveling throughout the City. Many low water crossings remain impassable, and areas along the creek may still be flooded. Remember: Turn Around, Don't Drown. If barricades are in place, do not move them. They have been placed by public safety personnel for your safety and will be removed once the area is safe to reopen.

If you evacuated overnight, please be aware that high water may still prevent access to your home. Public safety personnel will continue monitoring impacted areas throughout the morning. Please continue to follow City communications for updates before attempting to return.

As daylight allows, City crews will begin assessing roads, infrastructure, and any storm-related damage. Please continue to monitor the City's official communication channels for updates.
