The Alumni Association supporting the Schertz PD strives to increase public awareness and understanding of law enforcement, in an effort to help build a safer community through a partnership informed citizens and those who protect and serve. The Schertz Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association (SCPAAA) was formed in 1992. In 2011, the SCPAAA filed for and was granted status as a 501(c)(3) non-pr

ofit corporation. SCPAAA members serve as goodwill ambassadors to the community for the Schertz Police Department. The Citizen Police Academy and the SCPAAA strive to increase public awareness and understanding of law enforcement to help build a safer community through a partnership between informed citizens and those who protect and serve. The Schertz Citizens On Patrol (C.O.P.) also actively participates in patrolling the streets and neighborhoods of Schertz. The all-volunteer Patrol adds extra eyes and ears to make Schertz a better and safer community. In addition to regular patrols, the C.O.P. and SCPAAA support the Schertz Police Department during special events such as city charity events, parades, and festivals by providing volunteers to assist with traffic direction, crowd control, and other duties. The SCPAAA is always looking for new members or students. If you are a past Schertz Citizen Police Academy graduate who wants to join or return to the Alumni Association, you are always welcome. If you're not a graduate but are interested in attending a future citizen police academy class, contact us, and we will provide you with information for the next Citizens Police Academy. We invite those who wish to help support our programs and efforts in assisting the Schertz Police Department to visit our website.

The Schertz Citizens Police Academy Alumni Association wishes everyone a safe, fun, and happy Independence Day!

As we celebrate the birth of our nation, we honor the freedoms we enjoy and remember those who have served and sacrificed to protect them. We also extend our sincere appreciation to the first responders, law enforcement officers, firefighters, EMS personnel, dispatchers, and military members who are working today to keep our communities safe.

Whether you're enjoying a backyard barbecue, watching fireworks, or spending time with family and friends, please celebrate responsibly:
🎆 Leave fireworks to the professionals whenever possible.
🚗 Never drive impaired—plan for a sober ride home.
💧 Stay hydrated and protect yourself from the Texas heat.

Pretty cool.

This week I attended training at the FBI Academy in Quantico, hosted by the National Sheriffs’ Institute, alongside sheriffs from across the country. It was exemplary training and a great opportunity to critically examine the challenges facing Sheriff’s Offices nationwide, and to discuss real solutions with peers doing the same work in their own communities.

This training was fully funded by the National Sheriffs’ Institute, at no cost to Guadalupe County taxpayers. As you can see in the photo, we also had the chance to meet and spend time with FBI Director Kash Patel.

Modernizing and professionalizing the Guadalupe County Sheriff’s Office means investing in training that keeps our personnel sharp and our practices current. Since taking office, I’ve made it a priority to send our team to some of the best law enforcement training in the country. It’s a long-term investment, and one that will pay real dividends for the citizens we serve.
