ATTENTION: With the precipitation happening now we are going to keep the open burning ban in effect, however individuals may burn with permission of the Fire Chief of that fire district (or designee). A permit needs to be filled out and signed and sent to Emergency Management. If you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected] or call 712-571-8241. We will reevaluate conditions towards the end of the week or early next week. We appreciate your assistance with this.

A RED FLAG WARNING has been issued for Crawford County from Noon until 9 P.M. Friday (March 27th, 2026).

For Friday, Northwest winds at 10-15 mph, gusting to 20-30 mph. For Saturday, Southwest winds at 20-25 mph, gusting to 30-40 mph.

IMPACTS...any fires that develop will likely spread rapidly.
Outdoor burning is not recommended.

A Red Flag Warning means that critical fire weather conditions
are either occurring now, or will shortly. A combination of
strong winds, low relative humidity, and warm temperatures can
contribute to extreme fire behavior.

REMINDER: Crawford County remains in a BURN BAN until further notice.

Crawford County has been placed in a WINTER STORM WATCH in effect from Friday evening through Sunday morning.

6 to 14 inches of snow along with a light glaze of ice are possible.

Travel will be difficult.
