DYK that Waterloo, NY (Seneca County) is known as the birthplace of Memorial Day which was originally known as Decoration Day? Participants at OFA’s “Spa Ritz” Senior Congregate Meal Site on Friday were surprised to learn that fact when they played Memorial Day trivia after lunch. Folks also shared their families’ involvement in military service (in the past and those who serve now) and were thankful for those who have served and paid the ultimate sacrifice.

Area residents are invited to enjoy good company, a noontime meal and a fun activity/special presentation after lunch year round (except holidays) at the meal site on M-W-F at the Sharon Springs Firehouse at 137 Beechwood Road.

Reserve a meal by calling the Schoharie County OFA Office at 518-295-2001 before 2 p.m. the day before you want to go. The suggested voluntary donation for those 60 years old and older is $5 per meal. Under age 60? You’re welcome to participate for a fee of $7.50 per meal.
