On Saturday, August 29, the Education Committee of Schoharie Chapter NSDAR, met with kindergarten teacher Jeneca Kenney at Lasell Hall to donate school supplies for Schoharie Central school’s early elementary classes.

The supplies were collected and donated by members of the Chapter. Totals include 108 boxes of 24-ct crayons and 96 boxes of 12-ct Ticonderoga pencils.

The Education Committee members include Alicia Malanga, Claudia Shaylor, and (not pictured) Dianne Rizzo, Rose Kuhar, and Rebecca Quinn.

The Youth Belonging Leadership Team finished off the school year by learning from Vesna Losvin, a community member about her family's experiences with World War II, the Holocaust and moving to America as a young child,

After hearing some of her story, students boarded a bus to go to the Museum of Jewish Heritage in Lower Manhattan to view two exhibits, "The Holocaust: What Hate Can do" and "Common Circles", an installation that starts with a focus on our shared humanity before moving into "Voices Against Hate: Lessons from the Holocaust" which used advanced interactive technology to allow visitors to ask questions of Holocaust survivor Anita Lasker-Wallfisch and a Jewish-American veteran and liberator Alan Moskin.

YBLT is grateful to all of those who sacrificed their time and donated funds to support this powerful experience.

The 6th Grade Choir recently returned to Kingsway Village for a special morning of music and connection with its residents. Students performed selections from their spring concert before inviting the audience to join in a friendly sing-off of the classic "Blue Skies" creating a fun and memorable experience for everyone.

Following the performance, choir members paired up with residents to sing familiar songs together, filling the room with music and smiles. The visit concluded with time for conversation, and several students enjoyed reconnecting with seniors they had met earlier in the school year.

Experiences like these highlight the unique ability of music to bring people together across generations. This visit to Kingsway Village was another meaningful opportunity for students to share their talents while building lasting community connections!
