Schulenburg Public Library Receives $25,000 Grant

The Wayne Duddlesten Foundation has awarded the Schulenburg Public Library a $25,000 grant to support library needs and to enhance and update technology. Wayne Duddlesten, a prominent Houston businessman and philanthropist, established his foundation in 1981 to help non-profit organizations and educational institutions. The Duddlesten Foundation is delighted to partner with the Schulenburg Public Library.

The Schulenburg Public Library’s mission is to provide free and unrestricted access to information, educational, cultural and recreational library materials and services in a clean, comfortable, secure environment for people of all ages. The Schulenburg Public Library serves patrons of all ages from Schulenburg and the surrounding communities. This past summer the library had 565 people attend the summer programs and an average of 10,000 visitors a year. The library provides free access to the internet and in the near future will have an internet speed of 1000 Mbps upload and 1000 Mbps download. Patrons use the internet for school and university research, research for personal needs, news, recipes, reading pleasure, and business research. The library has a robust collection of 50,000 books, eBooks, and DVDs for patrons to borrow. Patrons also come to the library to fax, scan, and copy documents. Interlibrary Loan is available for patrons to borrow books from other libraries.

The Schulenburg Public Library appreciates the generosity of the Wayne Duddlesten Foundation.
