Today we were asked to participate in Fayette County’s Progressive, Ag safety day. The program is put on to teach students about safety on the farm and at home. We were able to talk with students about safety practices they can take home with them, as well as some of the safety practices we use on calls to protect ourselves.

This morning we held our annual Memorial Service. After attending early mass at St Rose we visited the local cemeteries to replace the flags on the graves of our fallen service brothers. We would like to thank St Rose for hosting us, and Father Jasper for serving as our Chaplin for this year.

4-3 11:43 tones for a grass fire northwest side of Ptc 4. Although we have been very blessed with a lot of rain in the past few weeks, there is still some fire hazard left behind. The dead grasses from the drought are still present below the new green grasses we have now. We are not under burn ban so we are free to burn, but please stay mindful of the possibility of fire spread. Don’t leave your fires unattended and stay aware of the wind.

Commissioners lifted the burn ban this morning. PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE look at the future forecast BEFORE igniting any fires. Please call the Fayette County Sheriff’s Dept and report the burn BEFORE igniting any fires. Last and probably the most important, PLEASE DO NOT LEAVE ANY FIRES UNATTENDED!!!!!! The dead grasses from the dry summer are still present and still very easy to ignite even with our recent rains. Please use caution and common sense. We are still expected to have some winds over the weekend so it will be very easy for fires to spread.

13:36 tones for a structure fire in town due to a lightning strike. Due to the placement of the strike and a firewall in the attic, we were able to contain the fire to a corner of the garage. The home sustained some smoke damage but the fire damage only affected the garage area.
