One of the traditions we’ve kept alive at SVFD… Any time we have members attend training, they get to put on a drill for the department when they return. Recently Dylan, Dominque, and Brandon completed classes at TEEX Texas A&M Fire Training School. Last night they put on a drill for the rest of the crew and showed us some of the things they learned. Having them lead a drill also gives them a feel for being a leader in our group. We always strive to bring in new ideas and new methods of doing what we do! Great job guys!

SVFD was super excited to welcome a new member to our fleet this week! For the past several months we’ve been working with Metro Fire Apparatus Specialist Inc. on a custom built quick response brush truck. Because this vehicle will primarily be used in our rural areas, it was paid for in full by the contributions to our budget through Fayette County. We are looking forward to finalizing the finishing touches on Booster 41 and putting her in service!

The first picture includes truck committee members Caleb Geissen company 2 foreman, Quentin Riche company 1 foreman, Gary Eudy assistant Chief, Metro Fire Territory Manager Todd Johnson, Darren Guentert Chief, Drew Brossman assistant Chief, and Randy Wick assistant Chief.

8-3 13:58 tones for a hydraulic oil spill at Lyons and Hwy 77. Sometimes it’s not about fire, rescue, or medical assistance. Sometimes it’s just dirty work to ensure public safety. 😣🤣

8-1 12:37 tones for a single vehicle 10:50 major needing extraction I10 westbound mm 670. Vehicle was initially traveling eastbound and ended up in the westbound median after rolling over the cable system. Command 4, Rescue 4, and Rescue 42 responded. Entry was made to the vehicle and patient extracted and moved to Medic 4 unit. Landing zone was then set up for air transport and westbound lanes were shut down until the patient was moved and air ambulance lifted. Roadway resumed to one open lane shortly after 1 am while the wreckage was removed. Roadway was cleared and fully opened around 1:55 am.
