The Quaker Springs Fire Department had a busy Thursday.

1323: QSFD was dispatched to a three car MVC at County Road 67 and County Route 70. Two sedans and a farm vehicle were involved. All occupants were out of their vehicle on arrival. No injuries were reported. The roadway was reopened at 1500.

1525: CO Alarm w/ no illness on Hill Rd.

2111: QSFD was dispatched to a residential structure fire on Hayes Rd. The fire was contained to the room of origin. The cause of the fire was determined to be a lithium ion battery. One minor injury was reported and the patient was treated by EMS and released on scene. Mutual aid was requested from VictoryMills FireDept, Schuyler Hose Co, Arvin Hart Fire Company, and the Greenwich Fire Department. Units cleared the scene at 2238.

QSFD members also participated in training and launched our boat for the season.

QSFD responded to multiple storm related calls overnight. Town, County and State Highway crews along with utility companies like National Grid are still working to clean up storm debris and wires. Please use caution during your morning commute.

Quaker Springs FD was dispatched at 3:49 this morning to Rt. 4 and Coveville Rd. for a Motor Vehicle Accident with 2 patients and possible severe injuries. Car 49 arrived and found a single vehicle on its side with 2 occupants out of the vehicle with minor injuries. After determining the car had no fire hazard or not leaking any fluids, QSFD then was able to direct traffic. This was called in by one of the occupants via a cell. Unfortunately, a tower in Washington County picked up the call and Middle Falls FD and Easton-Greenwich EMS were dispatched to check on their side of the river. Eventually, it was determined that the call was in Saratoga County. Also on scene were Wilton Emergency Squad, Inc. and the Saratoga County Sherriff Department.

Quaker Springs FD participated in a joint training between the Town of Saratoga fire agencies. Members practiced self rescue and victim removal techniques. Departments also showcased their specialty tools and their capabilities. Great job by all involved and thank you to our firefighters for giving up their time on a Sunday morning.

This afternoon Quaker Springs FD provided a cover assignment to multiple agencies in Washington County based out of the Middle Falls fire station. Units from multiple counties including Washington and Saratoga County were operating as part of a structure fire assignment in the Salem fire district. 49, 499 and 493 were the units assigned to the coverage.

Earlier this evening, Quaker Springs FD and Day Time Mutual Aid was dispatched for a Structure fire in a barn. Victory Mills Car 61 was first on the Scene and determined the homeowner had used multiple fire extinguishers to knock the fire down. He then had the first arriving Engine, ER573 from Schuylerville, grab hooks, a small ladder and a can to check for extension. Thank you to our Mutual Aid neighbors for your assistance today. Victory Mills, Schuyler Hose and Arvin Hart. Also thanks for Wilton EMS and Saratoga County Car 6.
