Postal Issue Update (lost mail)
I have now submitted a formal Congressional Inquiry via Senator Fetterman's office trying to resolve our postal issues, which includes lost mail and the financial burden it is placing on homeowners thru cancel check fees and missed deadlines. I was told the Post Office will have 30 days to review and respond. That does not mean the post office will respond as I've seen other senators complain to the new PMG about in his last hearing. We are currently experiencing a 1% lost mail rate per cycle. (muni & school) That includes bills sent out and payments mailed in. I will pass on any updates as I receive them. I recommend using online payments via my website. eChecks are only $1.50 and they guarantee payments is received and an emailed receipt. You can always drop payments in an envelope addressed to me in Schwenksville Borough's mailbox mounted to the left side of the main doors. No stamp required.

I will be at Borough Hall - 300 Main St. Schwenksville collecting School and County/Borough Tax Bills this month. The deadline to enroll in the School Installment Plan is Aug 15, 2026. The School Discount Period ends August 31, 2026. If you are mailing your Tax Bill payment, please make sure it has a legible postmark, dated Aug 31, 2026 or prior. You can also pay your tax bills on-line at my website. All County/Borough Bills are in Penalty Period.

Sat 8/15 - 10 AM to Noon (Installment #1 due - Last day to enroll in installment plan)

The 2026 School Real Estate Tax Bills for all Schwenksville Borough property owners will be mailed today. If you do not receive your tax bill by 7/14/26, please reach out to me and I will get you a copy. Also, Late Notices for Unpaid County/Borough Tax Bills are being mailed this week. If you mailed your payment and received a Late Notice, please reach out to me.

Lost Mail Update: On 6/24/26 Post Master General David Steiner met with Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committees. Most questions were directed around the Post Office's handling of voter ballots. Senator Hawley was the only one to directly address the issue of lost mail for his district. What he describes is EXACTLY what we are seeing in our region with the exception that no one has found the large pile of lost mail dumped in a field in PA. Worse yet, he has been requesting an explanation from Steiner since March with no response. Ive attached a link to that video. If you have lost mail, got hit with late fees, cancel check fees, etc, please let Senator John Fetterman (who is on that committee) and Congresswoman Dean know! We need to make some noise! I have attached direct links to their contact pages. Let them know what happened and how much it has cost you. I am getting slow responses and that's why I need your help. This has gone on for too many years.

I will be at Borough Hall - 300 Main St. Schwenksville collecting County/Borough Tax Bills this month. The deadline for the Face Period ends June 30. If you are mailing your Tax Bill payment, please make sure it has a legible postmark, dated by June 30 or prior. You can also pay your tax bills on-line at my website. Avoid the 10% penalty by paying before June 30. School Tax Bills will be mailed July 1.

Postal Issues Update:
As everyone is aware, the Post Office continues to lose first class mail, or it takes weeks to deliver letters and priority mail.
I have been working with Congresswoman Madeleine Dean's office over the past year on this issue. I was even given direct contact to the Regional Postal Customer Service Manager who after 3 months just stop responding to my emails.
I went to her Town Hall at Bomberger Hall on Ursinus Campus in Collegeville last night to bring up this subject.
Although I was not picked in the Q/A segment, an attorney from Limerick had brought up the issue and no surprise the entire audience grunted. Schwenksville is not alone on this issue. In fact it's a nationwide issue.
I spoke with Madeleine after the meeting to mention the continued financial burden on the homeowners for cancelled check fees and penalties for missing deadlines, etc. She understands the Post Office is understaffed and there are certain "hotspots", one is Montgomery County.
My prior contact from her team is currently serving in Iran, so she directed me to a new contact. I will be meeting with him within the next 2 weeks. DeJoy is no longer is the Post Master General and his replacement is no better. I will continue to bring this issue to Congress until it is resolved or rates fall to acceptable levels. My biggest question is, "Where is all this lost mail?". It's got to be a pretty big pile by now.
In the mean time, payments can always be dropped in the Borough mailbox located left of the front doors (300 Main St) or you can pay on-line at my website with eChecks or credit cards. eChecks are only $1.50 and it guarantees I receive your payment and you also get an emailed receipt.
