At 0800 hours this morning. Lt. Barry Shea retired from the Scituate Fire Department after 25 years of Service.
Barry was Appointed: 7/17/2000 and was promoted to Lieutenant 9 /14/2024.
Barry joined the Department early in our paramedic program and played a key role as Senior Medic, mentoring numerous new medics by spending hours with them on the EKG simulator.
Barry has held almost every position in the Fire Fighter’s Union. He served 3 terms as Union President and dedicated 100s of hours a year to Local 1464.

Lt. Shea was known to be on the quiet side and rarely photographed. But when it came to our health insurance, he was a fierce advocate. His recent work not only lowered employee’s insurance costs, it reduced costs for the Town of Scituate as well. As a retiree, we will demand he remain involved in this effort.

Known for his quick/dry sense of humor, Barry was also the last member of Scituate Fire Department to own a working flip phone!!

Barry’s cooking was famous. The Firehouse dinner decision was made the day before he came to work and groceries would be in the station when we arrived for our shift in the morning. When it came time to pay for dinner, Barry would only accept American currency. Barry Burgers will be missed, especially on the days we were too busy with calls to cook!

We wish him a long and healthy retirement!
