Congratulations Ranee Muirhead on being the First Responders Home Town Hero . Your service to the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad is greatly appreciated.

As a seven-year member of the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad, she has answered over 1024 calls for assistance and acts as treasurer of the organization. She recently trained as a Mental Health Resilience Officer and will engage with members of the organization to identify peers who might be experiencing mental health stressors.

Emergency Medical Technician Ranee Muirhead is a respected leader of the Scotch Plains Volunteer Rescue Squad and truly embodies the qualities of a Hometown Hero. Thank you, EMT Muirhead for your steadfast dedication and service to the Scotch Plains Community!

This Mental Health Awareness Month, we want to remind everyone that mental health matters just as much as physical health. 💚

As first responders, volunteers, friends, neighbors, and family members, we see every day how important it is to check in on one another, offer support, and have open conversations without judgment.

You are never alone, and it’s okay to ask for help. Together, we can break the stigma and build a stronger, more supportive community for everyone.

On May 5th and 6th, a few of our EMTs from the Scotch Plains Rescue Squad gave a Naloxone Training to the seniors of Academy for Allied Health Sciences. As these seniors are getting ready to go off to college in the fall, they may encounter a situation where naloxone can save a life. The squad taught the students what opioids are, how to recognize if someone’s having an overdose, and how to administer the naloxone medication. We hope the seniors of AAHS took something away from these past two days; everyone is capable of saving a life! 🩵
