Scotch Plains Summer Road Repaving - Week of 8/31

Weather permitting, the Township will be completing road milling and paving projects for the season at the following locations:

Pearl Place & Rhoda Place

• Milling is scheduled to take place on September 3 and paving on September 4.
• Road Closure 7:00 a.m. - approximately 4:30 p.m. The roads will re-open each evening.
• The project will take approximately 2 days to complete. If weather becomes an issue, the project may be extended to September 8 due to the Labor Day holiday.

Mohawk Lane

• Milling is scheduled to take place on August 31 and paving on September 1.
(Due to its proximity, Brandywine Court will have limited access during paving)
• Road Closure: 7:30 a.m. - approximately 4:30 p.m. The roads will re-open each evening.
• The project will take approximately 2 days to complete.

The Union County Board of County Commissioners is pleased to announce the continuation of its 2026 seasonal recycling programs in September, including two mobile paper shredding events and two dates for scrap metal recycling.

The County’s final Household Hazardous Waste event of the season will follow in October.

Please be advised that the milling and paving operations for Homestead-Edgewood-Stocker and Farley are scheduled to begin on Wednesday, August 26th.

The milling operations will be the first three days followed by paving operations on Thursday, August 27th, Monday, August 31st, and Tuesday, September 1st. The sequence shall be Homestead-Edgewood-Stocker-Farley.

Meet Again Cafe, located at 1985 US-22, introduces an international fusion concept combining Italian coffee with Japanese light bites. Utilizing La Marzocco espresso machines, the cafe specializes in Italian brews alongside Japanese onigiri, offering residents a unique cross-cultural space.

Sushi Bby Omakase, at 1832 E. 2nd St., embraces the traditional Japanese philosophy of "omakase"—translating to "I'll leave it up to you." Guests bypass traditional ordering for a multi-course progression dictated entirely by the day's fresh catch.

2026 Sewer utility bills are due September 1st. The last day to pay without penalty is September 10th.

Pay online and sign up for AutoPay at www.scotchplainsnj.gov – click “Tax & Sewer Payments”.

August 24th is the deadline to enable AutoPay in time for this year’s sewer bill.
