Congratulations to Master Sgt. Jason Burr on his promotion and his assignment as the dedicated crew chief for LC-130H Tail 92.

The role of the dedicated crew chief is rooted in a long-standing Air Force tradition built on pride, accountability, and ownership of the aircraft mission. Dedicated crew chiefs serve as the primary caretaker and technical expert for their assigned aircraft, ensuring it remains mission ready at all times.

As the dedicated crew chief for Tail 92, Master Sgt. Burr will play a critical role in maintaining the readiness and reliability of one of the 109th Airlift Wing’s iconic LC-130H “Skibirds.”

Today is Denim Day.

Denim Day stems from a court case in which the Supreme Court overturned a sexual assault conviction based on the victim’s clothing. They found that she was wearing jeans so tight that they assumed she would have had to assist in removing them. In protest, the women in Parliament wore jeans.

It has since become a global effort to challenge harmful myths and show support for those impacted by sexual violence. Wearing denim is a visible way to show support and start conversations. Even small actions help reinforce a culture where people feel safe coming forward.

“Volunteering for the mission gave me a real sense of community that I hadn’t felt before.”

SSgt Stephen Dagata, an accounting technician at the 109th, recently stepped outside his usual day-to-day budgeting duties to take on bigger responsibilities in both his military and civilian life.

Volunteering for a New York State prison mission, Dagata spent 35 days supporting operations inside two correctional facilities. He worked overnight shifts conducting rounds, checking on inmates and supporting daily operations alongside correctional staff.

Despite the unfamiliar setting, the mission quickly brought together Airmen from across the base, many of whom might not otherwise cross paths.

“It was cool realizing that we’re all kind of the same, no matter what job we do,” Dagata said. “I got to meet people from all over base—maintenance, ops—people I wouldn’t normally interact with. It made the base feel more connected after the mission.”
The experience also sparked a personal shift.

After spending weeks constantly on his feet, he found himself drawn back to running, something he had done competitively in high school and college. Since returning home, he’s completed a 50K ultramarathon and is now training for a 50-mile race scheduled for the end of May.
