E-BIKE & E-SCOOTER SAFETY REMINDER

The Scotia Police Department has recently seen an increase in personal-injury accidents involving e-bikes, e-scooters.

As these devices become more popular, it is important for riders and parents to understand what is, and is not, legal on New York roadways and sidewalks. Riders should obey all traffic laws, wear appropriate safety equipment, remain visible, and operate at a safe speed.

Please take a moment to review the attached guide and speak with younger riders in your household. Many electric motorcycles and off-road-style vehicles are not street legal, even if they resemble an e-bike.

Our goal is not simply enforcement, it is preventing injuries and keeping everyone in our community safe.

🚗 Village of Scotia Overnight Parking Update📢

Effective today, the Village of Scotia is implementing an updated parking enforcement process.

Parking citations will now be issued with a QR code that allows fines to be paid online (https://www.tocite.net/villageofscotiany/portal), as well as a phone payment option. Payments may also be made in person through the Village Court Clerk.

The following options are available for residents who require an exception to the Village's overnight parking restrictions:

• Construction Permit – For situations where a property's driveway is temporarily unavailable due to construction or maintenance.

• Overnight Parking Overlook – Each vehicle is eligible for up to three overnight parking overlooks per calendar month.

Permit requests, overnight parking overlooks, and parking ticket processing can be completed online at:

https://www.tocite.net/villageofscotiany/portal

As a reminder, overnight parking is prohibited on Village streets between 3:00 AM and 6:00 AM, unless a valid permit or approved overnight parking overlook has been issued.

We encourage residents to plan accordingly and utilize the online portal when an exception is needed.

🚨 We’re Back Home! 🚨

The Scotia Police Department is proud to announce that effective today, May 5, 2026, we have officially moved back into our newly renovated police station!

We’re excited to return to our home in the Village of Scotia and continue serving our community from our updated facility. These renovations allow us to better support our officers and enhance the services we provide to our residents.
