⚓️ ARTRANS Soldiers Receive New Army Mariner Badge⚓️

From WWII landings to today’s maritime logistics, Army Mariners have long projected American combat power. Yesterday, their legendary expertise finally met the uniform.

Soldiers from Headquarters, U.S. Army Transportation Command (ARTRANS) became among the first in the command to be awarded the newly established Army Mariner Badge during a historic ceremony held outside ARTRANS Headquarters yesterday.

The inaugural presentation honored Lt. Col. Christopher J. Matthai, CW3 (Ret.) Herbert D. Carter III, and SGM (Ret.) Kevin A. McKeller for their technical mastery, steadfast leadership, and decades of combined service across the fleet. Approved in 2024, the new badge officially recognizes the unique, highly technical skills of Transportation Corps mariners on the Army uniform.

"Earning and wearing this badge is a testament not only to my personal journey, but to the enduring dedication and advocacy of the entire Army Watercraft community." — SGM (Ret.) Kevin A. McKeller, Army Senior Mariner Badge recipient.

Celebrating 251 years of Army service, strength, and tradition.
This morning, we marked the U.S. Army’s 251st Birthday with a cake‑cutting ceremony hosted by our Deputy Commanding Officer, Col. Steven Putthoff.

Joining him for the ceremonial cake cutting were William Holley, CSM Randy Brown, ARTRANS Command Sergeant Major, and SGT Dominic Jacobs.

Thank you to everyone who came out as we honored 251 years of Soldiers, Civilians, and Families who continue to uphold the Army’s legacy every day.

Soldiers and Army Civilians from U.S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) and ARTRANS HQ came together today for an early morning ruck march to celebrate the U.S. Army’s 251st Birthday.

The group covered roughly 5–6 miles side‑by‑side — sharing laughs, pushing through the miles, and building the kind of camaraderie that has defined the Army since 1775. This wasn’t about competition or unit lines; it was about coming together as one team to honor the legacy of the Soldiers who came before us.

A simple ruck, a strong turnout, and a great way to kick off the upcoming Army Birthday.
