The Scott County Law Enforcement Center received a report today regarding a fraudulent email sent to a local business. The recipient did not recognize the sender, and upon opening the message, it automatically generated and sent emails to all contacts in their address book.

We strongly advise exercising caution when opening emails from unknown or unrecognized senders.

We have received reports of fraudulent text messages circulating in the community. If you receive the message shown below, please be aware it is a scam.

If you have questions about any text message or mail you receive, contact the Scott County Law Enforcement Center and we will assist you in determining whether it is legitimate.

For your safety, do not click links, respond, or provide personal information to unknown senders. If you believe you have been a victim of a scam, report it to our office immediately.

The Scott County Law Enforcement Center has received multiple reports from community members regarding phone calls from individuals falsely identifying themselves as officers with the Scott County Sheriff’s Office in reference to court paperwork. These calls are fraudulent.

If a member of the Scott County Sheriff’s Office or the Scott City Police Department has court documents for you, they will serve you in person.

If you receive a call from someone claiming to be a law enforcement officer or sheriff’s deputy, please contact the Law Enforcement Center at 620-872-2133 to verify the legitimacy of the call before providing any information.

Today, Scott County Law Enforcement and Emergency Services will be participating in an annual statewide tornado drill. Please do not be alarmed by the sirens at 10:00 am today when we test the sirens!

The week of March 2nd - 6th is Severe Weather Preparedness Week. Since we experience a wide range of severe weather such as tornados, damaging winds, large hail, and flash flooding, we strongly encourage all residents to create or review your severe weather safety plans during this time.
