Teays Valley Fire Department

Teays Valley Fire Department Official page of Teays Valley Fire Department In 1963 the local Lions Club decided the Teays Valley area needed a local fire department. Smoot.

After long discussions it was decided to sponsor the beginning of a fire department. On June 20th, 1964, Secretary of State Joe E. Burdette signed the incorporation papers. The object of incorporation was to establish, organize, operate and maintain, for the benefit of the community, a volunteer fire department. Our first apparatus was a 1942 LaFrance Pumper received from the Kanawha County Airpor

t and an old gasoline tanker. These vehicles were housed at the Teays Valley Exxon until a station could be built. In 1965 plans for a 60' x 40' building were started and the building still serves us to this day as our main station. Our department is a combination department consisting of part-time paid firefighters who are supplemented by a dedicated group of volunteers. The department is led into action by Chief John R. We consist of about 30 men and women who come from a variety of backgrounds and training. We are always taking new applications. If you are interested please stop by the main station and fill one out.

Beach Day at Scott Teays brought the sunshine, and TVFD and Putnam Fire brought the water. Students cooled off today with a little help from the fire hose and plenty of teamwork from our crews. We’re always proud to support our schools and spend time with the community we serve.

Drone mapping is changing how public safety agencies document scenes, plan operations, and gather critical information in real time.⁣

Teays Valley Fire participated in Introduction to Drone Mapping training hosted by Putnam County Emergency Management and Public Safety UAS, gaining hands-on experience with mapping technology used in search and rescue, scene reconstruction, and emergency response operations.⁣

Continuing to train, adapt, and prepare for the evolving needs of the communities we serve.
