This is the last story in a series of many. But if you know Scott, you already know how every one of them ends.

With neighbors who didn't wait to be asked. People who showed up — not because they had to, but because that's just who they are.

That's been true for 71 years. And it's still true today.

After 30 years of standing beside this department, when the original Scott fire station was on the verge of disappearing, Troy Bergeron didn't think twice. He restored it. Brick by brick. Because some things are worth preserving — not for history books, but because the community of Scott deserves to know what their community was built on.

Just like the volunteers who've been protecting this community since 1955.

For 71 years, volunteers have answered the call.
Not for recognition.
Not for reward.
But for the community they love.
