The El Pueblo Water Treatment Plant can process up to 547,000 gallons of water per day — that’s enough to fill more than 40 backyard swimming pools! 🏊‍♀️ (For reference, 100,000 gallons fills about eight home swimming pools.)

🚧 The Santa Cruz–Scotts Valley Intertie Project is nearing the finish line!

Construction continues to make excellent progress, with the new pump station building at 6000 La Madrona now enclosed. Crews are finishing installation of the interior piping, marking another major milestone.

Project completion is anticipated this fall. Once complete, the intertie will strengthen regional water infrastructure and improve long-term water reliability for Santa Cruz and Scotts Valley.

Drinking water for the Scotts Valley Water District is 100% sourced from aquifers in the Santa Margarita Groundwater Basin.

This shared resource is jointly managed through the Santa Margarita Groundwater Agency. SVWD is a member and its board of directors meets quarterly to discuss basin and groundwater management actions to ensure the water supply for the region is sustainable.

📣 The Scotts Valley Water District plans to temporarily shut off water for 14 homes from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Thursday (8/20) to replace 120 feet of pipeline under Bethany Drive. Crews will close Bethany Drive — between 570 Bethany Drive and 590 Bethany Drive — to work on repairs during the shutoff.

The 14 homes that will be impacted are on Tabor Way and Bethany Drive.

The District will provide an update when water service is restored.

🙌 Water Service Restored 🙌

District crews repaired the water main and restored water service late Thursday night for Tabor Way and Bethany Drive. A boil notice is in effect for 15 homes directly impacted by the water main break. These residents have been contacted directly by District staff.

Water use restrictions for the surrounding neighborhood have been lifted.

A big thanks to staff for their hard work and customers for their patience!
