📣 Calling all longtime Scotts Valley locals! The Historical Society wants YOUR memories.

The Scotts Valley Historical Society is gathering stories and memories about the old Valley Gardens Golf Course — once a local gathering spot, opened in 1971 and closed in 2018.

With the land now moving toward a new life as a future neighborhood and small retail village, the developer recently invited the Historical Society to walk the property before two small structures are removed. They didn’t find any major artifacts, but they did find something else — a chance to preserve the stories of a place that meant so much to so many.

Debbie Muth, president of the Historical Society, hopes to collect memories from anyone who played, worked, or spent time at Valley Gardens. Whether you golfed there every week or only visited once, your stories could become part of Scotts Valley’s official historical record.

During the visit, locals and history buffs explored what remains — palm trees, an old plaque they chose to save, and just a few traces of what was once a community gathering spot.

Meanwhile, Robson Homes is moving forward thoughtfully with plans for the site:

🏡 142 single-family homes
🏘️ 54 multifamily units
☕️ A small commercial area with hopes for cafés and restaurants
🌳 A 1.5-acre park + meaningful open space
🚲 A shared-use path connecting neighborhoods to Mt. Hermon

Now, before this next chapter begins, the Historical Society wants to honor the last one.
