We were so sad to hear the news about our dear friend Jim Murray. Not only was Jim a local firefighter, he was a former Scottsbluff Firefighter and someone we worked with daily in his service on the ambulance. Always quick with a joke, Jim was somebody we all enjoyed working with. Our condolences go out to his family, the Western Nebraska Regional Airport Fire Department, Regional West EMS, and all that were fortunate enough to know Jim.

It’s very special when we get a visit from people we’ve helped in the past, but even more special when our members helped welcome that person into this world! Your Scottsbluff Firefighters are proud of the work done by B-Shift and are grateful they got to help celebrate Fianna’s first birthday!

Not often do we get to hear about the outcome of our patients, but today B-Shift got a special visit from Fianna who turned 1 today. Fianna got to meet the crew that delivered her, and it was great to catch up with the family to see how everyone is doing.

We want to thank the family for visiting and catching up, and giving us permission to share this story with you all.

We're always proud of the work our members put in, and Your Scottsbluff Firefighters really put the work in last night! A fast response by C-shift got this fire under control quickly. We also had 6 off-duty personnel respond, showing that our members are dedicated to serving the public at all times.

We're very thankful for our working relationships with Scottsbluff Police Department, Gering Fire Department, Scotts Bluff County Communications Center, Firefighter Ministry, Nebraska Public Power District, Black Hills Energy, and Regional West EMS.

Alright, we know how it goes. It may snow, it may not. It may be a dusting or 5 inches. All we really know is we'd much rather you be prepared for the worst than be caught off guard! No matter the weather, Your Scottsbluff Firefighters are always prepared to serve the public. Stay safe, keep an eye on the weather, and take the proper precautions.

(March 6th - Morning Update): Periods of snow will continue along and west of Interstate 25 today and tonight. Further east, snow will develop across the eastern plains and the northern Nebraska Panhandle later this morning. Snow may be heavy at times this afternoon through this evening.

Our condolences go out to the Nebraska State Patrol and all of their Troopers on their loss today. The Trooper, their family, and the Nebraska law enforcement community will be in our thoughts and prayers over the coming days and weeks.

The Nebraska State Patrol is heartbroken to announce that a Trooper has been killed in the line of duty today.

The incident involved a motor vehicle crash while the Trooper and others were responding to another crash on I-80 between Ashland and Greenwood.

Please keep our Trooper's family, friends, and colleagues in your thoughts. More information will be provided when possible.

Your Scottsbluff Firefighters are proud of the hard work put in by all members in 2024. We want to point out a few details that are easy to miss because there is so much data.

While the call volume increase from 2023 to 2024 was small, the 10 year increase is 38%! And call volume is up over 60% over the last 30 years! That's a trend that is only predicted to continue.

Your Scottsbluff Firefighters are saving 95% of the property that's involved in a fire. Meaning when someone's house is on fire, only 5% was lost! That's a testament to the hard work and efficiency Your Scottsbluff Firefighters put on display every day.

We handle all of these calls and other duties with only 5 firefighters on duty everyday. That's why efficiency, dedication, and hard work is the name of the game for Your Scottsbluff Firefighters. We accomplish on the fireground with 5 what most departments would do with a dozen. None of that would be possible without the assistance of our automatic aid partners in Gering.

Your Scottsbluff Firefighters are thankful for the support from the Chief, the City, and most of all the community. We're here to serve you!

Your Scottsbluff Firefighters were hard at work this afternoon working on a fire at the scrap yard. Strong winds created challenges for the incident, but with the help of Gering Fire Department, fire personnel got a handle on things quickly and most of our time was spent hitting hot spots amongst the scrap metal. Thank you to Gering Fire, Scottsbluff Police Department, NPPD, and Scottsbluff Recycling staff for their assistance.
