Local Government Day didn't disappoint! Today both the Leadership Jackson County and Junior Leadership Jackson County participated in a mock trial and heard from government officials. Appreciate Judge Brent Benson and the participating attorneys for assisting during the mock trial. Also appreciate our local government officials for speaking to the group: Chairman Bill Nance, Scottsboro Mayor Jim McCamy, Section Mayor Rick Hanback, Revenue Commissioner Jeff Arnold, Probate Judge Victor Manning, Circuit Clerk Bart Buchanan, Sheriff Rocky Harnen, and Public Works Jonathan Campbell. Also appreciate the tours provided by the Scottsboro Fire Department, Scottsboro Police Department, Jackson County Jail Jackson County Emergency Management and Jackson County Courthouse Annex.

State Government Day in Montgomery! Toured and visited the State Capitol, Archives, Alabama Cattlemen’s Association, State House, First White House of the Confederacy and the Governor’s Mansion. Thank you Alabama Cattlemen’s Association for hosting us for lunch!

Healthcare Day for Jr. Leadership! Appreciate Vicki Watts and Debbie Ashburn for planning the day. Tour of Highland Hospital, etiquette lesson and lunch at the Rec Com and ended the day bagging up 466 bags for Nourish One Child. Great day!

Both the junior and adult Leadership Jackson County classes had their Agriculture and Natural Resources Days this week. Agriculture is big in Jackson County with annual receipts of $211 million per year. We appreciate the opportunity to hear or visit Jackson County Farmers Federation, Jackson Farmers Coop, Tri Green, Mud Creek Veterinary, Goose Pond Colony, Lake Majestic Farms and Chandler Farms. Appreciate the support of meals and transportation from Jackson Farmers Coop, Tri Green, Jackson County Farmers Federation, Nutrien, and North Alabama Electric.

Orientation Day!

Both classes had Orientation Day in September where they got to know their new class members and enjoy some team building activities. Thank you to Scottsboro-Jackson County Senior Center and New Home Bible Camp for hosting these groups. Leadership Jackson County had a great time at Montgomery Drive In! Appreciate Mountain Lakes Chamber of Commerce for making it happen. Much appreciation to our Senators and Representatives that came and discussed the issues that are affecting our region.
