Mayor Jim McCamy presented Lieutenant Porch with this distinguished award last week!

Throughout his career, Lieutenant Porch has served with honor and integrity, earning the respect of his fellow officers and the community he serves. His unwavering commitment to public safety and exemplary leadership continue to set a standard for others to follow.

On 06/06/2026 at approximately 8:57p.m., officers with the Scottsboro Police Department were conducting a safety checkpoint in the 16000 block of Highway 35 when they made contact with the occupants of a Jeep Compass.

During the checkpoint, officers determined that the driver did not possess a valid driver's license and was also found to have an active warrant through the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. The driver was detained pending the arrival of deputies.

After receiving consent to search the vehicle from both occupants, officers conducted a search and located items that led to the discovery of illegal drugs. During the investigation, Martha Ann Credille (48 of Hammond, IN) was found to be in possession of methamphetamine.

Credille was arrested and charged with the following:
Possession of Controlled Substance (M**hamphetamine)
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

The driver of the vehicle was taken into custody by the Jackson County Sheriff's Office on their outstanding warrant. Credille was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail, where she was booked without incident and then transferred to the Jackson County Jail.

The Scottsboro Police Department continues to utilize safety checkpoints and proactive enforcement efforts to promote roadway safety and combat criminal activity within our community.

On 05/30/2026 at approximately 8:18p.m., Scottsboro Police Department officers conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle for an equipment violation in the area of Willow Street and Tupelo Pike.

During the stop, officers identified the driver as Uriel Becerra Martinez (30 of Woodville), who was found to have an active warrant through the Scottsboro Police Department. Following his arrest, officers located approximately 3.3 grams of methamphetamine.

Additional narcotics were later discovered on Martinez's person, including approximately 1.8 grams of suspected synthetic ma*****na (spice).

Martinez was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail for processing before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail.

Martinez has been charged with the following:
Possession of Controlled Substance (M**hamphetamine)
Possession of Controlled Substance (Spice)

On 05/26/2026 at approximately 8:30p.m, officers with the Scottsboro Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling without headlights or taillights illuminated during nighttime hours.

After officers attempted to initiate the stop, the vehicle continued a short distance before stopping at a residence on Wilson Street. During the investigation, the driver was identified as Lisa Ann Yuris (46 of Scottsboro). While continuing the investigation, officers learned that Yuris was operating the vehicle with a revoked driver’s license.

While speaking with the driver, officers detected the odor of ma*****na coming from inside the vehicle. A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in the discovery of methamphetamine, ma*****na, and drug paraphernalia.

Lisa Ann Yuris was charged with the following:
Possession of Controlled Substance (M**h)
Possession of Ma*****na 2nd
Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Yuris was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail, where she was booked without incident and transported to the Jackson County Jail for the felony charge.

🚨 TRAFFIC SAFETY CHECKPOINT LEADS TO DRUG ARRESTS 🚨

During the recent “Hands Across the Border” traffic safety checkpoint, officers with the Scottsboro Police Department worked alongside multiple state and local agencies to promote roadway safety.

During the checkpoint, officers made contact with a passenger car, occupied by two individuals. The individuals were identified as Adrian Labron Bentley (37 of Chattanooga, TN) and Christopher James Wi******er (37 of Chattanooga, TN). While speaking with the occupants, officers detected the odor of raw ma*****na coming from the vehicle, which led to a probable cause search.

During the search, officers located approximately 14.83 ounces of ma*****na packaged in multiple bags throughout the vehicle, along with digital scales and packaging materials commonly associated with the distribution of narcotics. Officers also recovered $2,873 in suspected narcotics related cash.

Additionally, prescription medications were located that were not prescribed to either occupant of the vehicle.

As a result, Adrian Bentley was charged with the following:
▪️ Possession of Ma*****na 1st Degree
▪️ Possession of Drug Paraphernalia
▪️ Illegal Possession of Prescription Drugs

Chrisopher Wi******er was charged with the following:
▪️ Possession of Ma*****na 1st
▪️ Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Both subjects were transported to the Scottsboro City Jail for processing before being transferred to the Jackson County Jail without incident.

🚔🤝 HANDS ACROSS THE BORDER 🤝🚔

The Scottsboro Police Department was proud to join fellow law enforcement agencies from across North Alabama and Tennessee for the annual Hands Across The Border event at the Alabama/Tennessee state line!

This multi-state traffic safety checkpoint brought agencies together with one common goal! Keeping our roads safe for everyone traveling through our communities. Officers from across the northern region worked side by side focusing on traffic enforcement, impaired driving prevention, seatbelt compliance, and promoting safe driving habits.

Events like these showcase the strong partnerships between agencies and the shared commitment to protecting the people we serve no matter which side of the state line they call home.

A big thank you to all participating agencies and officers who helped make this event a success!

🚨 TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG ARREST 🚨

On May 13, 2026 at approximately 12:07a.m., officers with the Scottsboro Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle traveling on US Hwy 72 for improper equipment.

During the stop, the driver was identified as Steven Andrew Waters (47 of Stevenson). Upon further investigation, Waters did not possess a valid driver’s license, and he also had multiple outstanding warrants through neighboring counties.

After obtaining consent to search the vehicle, officers located a clear plastic bag containing a crystal-like substance believed to be methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Waters was arrested and charged with the following:

• Possession of a Controlled Substance (M**hamphetamine)
• Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Waters was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail and later transferred to the Jackson County Jail, where holds were placed due to outstanding warrants.

The Scottsboro Police Department remains committed to proactive enforcement efforts that help keep illegal narcotics and dangerous drivers off our roadways.

🚨 ARREST MADE FOLLOWING DISTURBANCE CALL 🚨

On 05/12/2026 at approximately 8:00p.m., officers with the Scottsboro Police Department responded to a disturbance call in the area of Hamilton Avenue regarding a male subject reportedly yelling in the street and threatening juveniles.

Upon arrival, officers learned the subject had gone inside a residence in the area. After making contact with someone at the home, officers were informed the individual was experiencing erratic behavior possibly related to drug use.

Officers made contact with Benjamin Stephen Dymond (49 of Scottsboro). While speaking with Dymond inside the residence, officers observed ma*****na in plain view.

During the investigation, the subject was taken into custody for Possession of Ma*****na. A subsequent search of the immediate area led to the discovery of additional suspected narcotics and drug-related items, including ma*****na, synthetic ma*****na (spice), controlled substance medications, and drug paraphernalia.

Benjamin Steven Dymond was charged with the following:
➡️Possession of Controlled Substance (Spice)
➡️Possession of Controlled Substance (Pills)
➡️Possession of Ma*****na 2nd
➡️Possession of Drug Paraphernalia

Dymond was transported to the Scottsboro City Jail and booked without incident. Once booked, Dymond was transferred to the Jackson County Jail for the felony charges.
