It was an honor to attend the Alabama Republican Party's 250th Celebration & Summer Dinner. As your elected Sheriff, I had the opportunity to meet and visit with elected leaders from across Alabama and our nation, including Senator Tommy Tuberville, Coach Bruce Pearl, Senator Katie Britt, Congressman Tim Burchett, Congressman Brandon Gill, Brilyn Hollyhand, Pastor Travis Johnson, and many others who are committed to serving our great state.

A special thank you to Congressman Barry Moore for your continued friendship and unwavering support of my team and the future of the Jackson County Sheriff's Office. Your encouragement and commitment to our community are greatly appreciated, and I look forward to working together to better serve the people of Jackson County.

Why is this important to the citizens of Jackson County?

As we move closer to our transition in January, the financial challenges facing the Jackson County Sheriff's Office are very real. Building relationships, earning the trust of fellow leaders, and working alongside our peers across Alabama will be essential as we seek solutions that strengthen our Sheriff's Office while being responsible stewards of taxpayer dollars.

No one succeeds alone. Strong partnerships at the local, state, and federal levels will help us identify opportunities, share resources, and advocate for the needs of Jackson County.

My commitment remains the same: to serve the people of Jackson County with integrity, transparency, and a servant's heart. I will continue working every day to build relationships that benefit our deputies, our office, and, most importantly, the citizens we are privileged to serve.

From US Congressman Dale Strong

It was great to be back in Jackson County to visit with local public safety and utility leaders who work every day to protect and maintain the community’s quality of life.

Started the day with several volunteer fire chiefs whose jurisdictions cover multiple communities across the county. We discussed my efforts to bring home grant dollars to support our brave fire and rescue volunteers. As a lifelong volunteer firefighter and chairman of the Homeland Security Subcommittee on Emergency Management and Technology, I know firsthand the importance of having up-to-date assets in the hands of public safety professionals.

Enjoyed having lunch at KC’s BBQ with Sheriff-Elect Craig Holcomb and hearing about his priorities. Whether it’s his service in the U.S. Army National Guard or nearly three decades worth of experience in the sheriff’s office, Craig has demonstrated how dedicated he is to his country and community. I look forward to working with him and continuing my support for Jackson County law enforcement.

The Waterworks Board of Section and Dutton hosted me at their treatment plant in Langston. I am proud to be actively supporting federal investment to help the utility expand operational capacity to meet customer demand and ensure Sand Mountain residents have viable water infrastructure for years to come.

Ended the day by sitting down with the Jackson County Sentinel to discuss my work in D.C. to bring our tax dollars back home and make sure rural North Alabama has a seat at the table.

I want to address a question that has been brought to my attention regarding transportation to the polls on Election Day.

After consulting with the Jackson County Probate Judge's Office regarding Alabama election law, it is my understanding that a candidate may provide nonpartisan transportation for citizens who need a ride to the polls, provided it is done in compliance with applicable election laws and without any pressure, persuasion, or requirement to vote for any particular candidate.

There have also been questions regarding Ala. Code § 11-44E-161. Based on my review, I believe that it does not directly apply because it appears to be under title two which makes it a municipal government statute and is inapplicable to a county sheriff race.

My intent is simple: to help ensure that every eligible citizen who wishes to vote has the opportunity to do so. Any transportation assistance offered would be available regardless of political affiliation or candidate preference. No one would be asked who they support, and no one would be encouraged or pressured to vote for me or any other candidate.

I am committed to following all Alabama election laws, including restrictions on electioneering near polling locations, campaign finance reporting requirements, and the prohibition against using public resources for campaign purposes.

Voting is a fundamental right, and every citizen deserves the opportunity to participate in the electoral process. If transportation assistance is provided, it will be done solely to help citizens exercise that right.

As always, thank you for your support, your trust, and your commitment to our community.
