The Scottsburg Police Department wants to give a huge thank you to the Scott County Partnership, represented by Melinda Lowry and Brynley Culley, for their support of this great initiative for our community!

Through a grant awarded by the Juvenile Detention Alternatives Initiative (JDAI), sporting equipment was purchased for our officers to hand out while patrolling local parks in Scottsburg. This program is all about building positive relationships, connecting with youth, and creating meaningful interactions in our community.

So if you see one of our police vehicles in a local park — come say hello and flag us down! If you need a football, basketball, or soccer ball, ask the officer if they have one available in their vehicle.

Please keep in mind not every officer may have equipment available at that moment, but we’ll do our best to help as many kids as possible.

We’re excited about opportunities like this to engage with our youth and continue strengthening the relationship between our department and the community we serve.
