What really IS Mobile Integrated Health?
It is a question we see a lot, and honestly, it's one of the more important things we can do in EMS. MIH isn't 911, MIH is what happens before the emergency and sometimes what prevents it from happening altogether. Our MIH team is made up of paramedics who go beyond the ambulance. They meet patients where they are - literally. In their homes, on their terms, and on a schedule that works for them. Our full time team checks in, follows up after hospital visits, assist in chronic condition management, medication reconciliation, and catch small problems before they become big, life-threatening ones. MIH is built to be proactive instead of reactive and also allow to have that gap bridged in between those who don't necessarily need an ambulance, but still need help. This also includes working alongside other healthcare partners in our community for example, hospice teams, helping support families through some of the most critical and personal moments in their life. We don't want to stop there - We are actively looking to build relationships with additional local resources and agencies to continue expanding what we offer. If you or someone you know could assist us in the search, feel free to contact our team!
While our duty crews on a daily basis treat the emergency, MIH expands to assist in treating the whole picture. Healthcare doesn't have to start at the hospital doors, nor does it have to wait until then. If you, a loved one, or any of your friends believe they could benefit from our program, give us a call. We are enrolling new patients weekly.
