Our friends at the Southwest Autism Research & Resource Center (SARRC) and the Autism Society of Southern Arizona are offering this wonderful free resource for families in the Tucson community. Early screening and support can make a meaningful difference, and this event provides families with an opportunity to connect with professionals in a welcoming and sensory-friendly environment. Please help spread the word to anyone who may benefit!

Tucson, mark your calendars for a free developmental screening event on Saturday, May 16! SARRC and Autism Society of Southern Arizona are offering free developmental screenings for children up to age 13.

Event Details:
📍Autism Society of Southern Arizona: 2302 E Speedway Blvd Suite 112, Tucson, AZ 85719
⏰ Saturday, May 16 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m.
✅ Appointments are encouraged, but walk-ins welcome
🤩 Stick around for complimentary bites from Special Eats and sensory-friendly fun!

Who Should Attend:
Parent(s)/caregiver(s) who have concerns about their child’s development; observe that they are not achieving milestones that other children are; or notice behaviors that seem out of the ordinary.

How the Screening Works:
Parent(s)/caregiver(s) will consult with a member of SARRC’s clinical team who will utilize a standardized and valid procedure to assess whether a formal evaluation is recommended. Following the screening, a SARRC team member may advise that a formal autism diagnostic evaluation is recommended.

For many individuals with disabilities, mental health is deeply connected to feeling included and part of a community. Through programs and shared experiences, Gesher helps create spaces where individuals can build friendships, feel supported, and know they belong.
This Mental Health Awareness Month, take a moment to reach out, check in, or simply show up for someone. It can make more of a difference than you think.
