This week's Staff Spotlight features Dr. Merissa Remus!

⚗️Whether she's experimenting with molecules or recipes, her curiosity never stops. As she describes it, the chemist in her never really leaves. She truly enjoys experimenting with different flavors and ingredients.

For Dr. Remus, one of the best parts of teaching is watching students discover that they have the power to shape their own lives and positively influence others. She also loves those unexpected questions that turn a regular lesson into a learning experience for everyone, including herself!

🍎And while she loves a good routine, she'd happily trade places with a middle school science teacher for a day just to watch younger students discover their love for science.

She also frequently runs a cooking or baking term project at the end of the year.

Thanks for all you do, Dr. Remus!

This week’s Staff Spotlight is Mr. Christopher Klugman!

If you’ve ever talked with Chris, you know there’s never a shortage of conversation—or a good debate. Whether it’s government, politics or the Constitution, he’s always ready to dive into the ins and outs of how it all works and share his opinions.

He also gives a special shoutout to some of his students from his 8th grade World History Class, who he got to teach for multiple years. Including but not limited to Blair, Cameron, Payton, Kayla, Mahalena, Tanvi, Zane, Jana, Colin, Alex, Marina, Frankie, Ashton, Alisha, Oliver, Jasper, Hillary, Azara, Victoria, and Zach.

Thanks for all you do Mr. Klugman!

This week’s Staff Spotlight comes from the History Department—Mr. Davoren Bishop!

Mr. Bishop started his BASIS journey as a Teaching Fellow but quickly found his way into the classroom. After teaching 5th grade last year, he now teaches both 6th and 7th grade. He is wise beyond his years and can carry a great conversation about just about any historical event.

🏀 He’s also a true basketball fan. Win or lose, he’ll always support the Suns, but his love for the game goes well beyond one team. He enjoys watching them all and talking about the many stars of the league.

We’re thankful to have Mr. Bishop as part of our school community. Thank you for all you do!

🇫🇷This week’s Staff Spotlight is Morgane Leseul from our Foreign Language department!

Madame Leseul brings a little bit of France to BASIS Scottsdale every day, whether she’s sharing the language and culture, introducing students to French history, or occasionally making the classroom smell a whole lot better with crêpes.

After five years at BASIS, she’s also had the chance to watch many of her students grow up right in front of her.

We’re lucky to have Morgane and the energy she brings to our BASIS Scottsdale community!
