It's a great day for Whittier Elementary in !

Alongside partners from the Scranton School District, Trust for Public Land, Valley in Motion (VIM), and our state legislators, we celebrated the completion of the new, student-designed playground at Whittier in Southside.

Congratulations to the student designers from Mrs. Elizabeth O'Malley's class who have watched their ideas come to life!

Congratulations to another new business expanding into !

We're pleased to welcome La Picada By Luisa Inc to North Main Avenue as they share their authentic Caribbean cuisine with our city.

La Picada is an expansion of Luisa’s Restaurant in Hazleton, and we're glad they chose to call Scranton their second home.

It's always inspiring to witness the athleticism and community spirit at the Steamtown Marathon - and especially the determination of those who finish in the rain!

Thanks to Commissioner Thom Welby for braving the elements with me yesterday at the finish line.

Kudos to all who participated in this incredible annual event, whether as an athlete, a volunteer, or a sponsor, and a special congratulations to top finishers including Connor Nisbet, Sadie Smith, and Michael McDonald.

It was an honor to join PA Dept. of Human Services Secretary Valerie Arkoosh today at Bright Horizons at the University of Scranton.

Secretary Arkoosh shared great news about Governor Shapiro's continued investments into childcare availability and in the childcare workers who make it all possible. 🖍️ 📚️ ✏️

Remember to come out on Sunday to cheer on the runners at the Steamtown Marathon! Thanks to the organizers and sponsors for this treasured annual event in Scranton.

We had a great time touring the CTC of Lackawanna County this morning.

We always enjoy seeing CTC students in action, developing skills that will earn them valuable certifications and incredible career opportunities. These young people will be the nurses, patient care techs, firefighters, police officers, mechanics, cyber analysts, and more that will keep our community healthy and safe.

Thank you to everyone at CTC for the warm welcome and for sharing the remarkable work happening every day at CTC!

The Traveling Vietnam Wall has arrived at Nay Aug Park! 🇺🇸

I spoke to Sam Kuchwara about what it means to bring the Wall back to and why it’s so important to continue honoring those who gave everything for our freedom.

Thank you to American Legion Post 121 and all of the other local veterans who donated their time today, the veterans who joined our motorcade including those from the Dickson City American Legion, Lackawanna County, SPD, SFD, our Parks Department, the Project Management team, the SMRA, and the Scranton High and West Scranton High cheerleading and band students who welcomed the Wall to Nay Aug and made this weekend possible.

Make sure to stop by for the opening ceremony tomorrow at 5:30 PM, or visit the Wall Saturday and Sunday from 8 AM to 6 PM.

Yesterday, we attended the FealGood Foundation Community Breakfast at the University of Scranton.

Thank you to the U for prioritizing teaching 9/11 and the FealGood Foundation, John Feal, and Tom Wilson for their continued advocacy for 9/11 responders and first responders across the country.

Hearing John and Tom tell their stories of fighting for justice for 9/11 responders was an honor.

On Monday, I presented a proclamation to Allied Services, one of our community’s largest employers, celebrating 50 years of National Rehabilitation Awareness Week, which got its start right here in back in 1976.

Thank you to the Allied team for the care and encouragement you provide to patients and families every day, helping our neighbors regain independence and get back to doing what they love. 💙

We just unveiled the new playground at Grace Street Park in The Plot! 🛝

We've been working hard to make improvements throughout Scranton's neighborhoods, from parks to stormwater, from street signs to sidewalks, from safety cameras to business facade upgrades.

Get out and explore what’s new in our parks, and enjoy the events happening throughout the city this fall!🍂 🍁
