❄Lets talk Cold Weather Safety❄

There's no better time to prepare for cold weather than now. Here's a few ways to stay safe at home during cold weather events.

🔵Stay updated with Local Weather Forecasts. Be aware of the hazards that are coming your way.

🔵Prepare an Emergency Kit. These can include Non-Perishable food, drinking water, medication, first aid supplies, and any medical supplies you might need

🔵Exercise caution when using Space Heaters, Heated Blankets, or Heating Pads. Don't plug these items into extension cords or power strips, don't tuck electric blankets or heating pads into your mattress, or leave any of these items unattended while in use.

🔵Don't heat your homes with gas ovens or gas ranges. This could pose a major risk to Carbon Monoxide (CO) poisoning, and pose a major fire hazard.

🔵If you're using a generator, make sure to follow the manufacturer's guidelines for operation, and never use them in an enclosed area like inside your home or business. Keep them away from windows or vents, and make sure you have working CO detectors.

Check on your neighbors and call 9-1-1 if you have an emergency during extremely cold weather!

❄Stay safe and prepared in cold weather❄

While cold temperatures remain in the area, its important to make sure you stay safe when warming your homes. Make sure to keep flammable item at least 3 feet away from heat sources, only plug 1 heat-producing appliance into an outlet at a time, and install Carbon Monoxide detectors in your home.

Part of being prepared for winter weather is being aware of it. Be sure to stay informed with local weather forecasts, and information from trusted sources like the National Weather Service.

🏆🔥 A special day at Scranton Fire Headquarters!

We were honored to welcome the Stanley Cup and Mike Joyce, Head Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Stanley Cup Champions Florida Panthers.

Mike, a Scranton native, brought the Stanley Cup home to share with the community and our department. His family’s fire service legacy runs deep, his uncles John and Eddie Joyce both proudly served with the Scranton Fire Department.

After a ride on Engine 4, the Cup was showcased at Fire Headquarters, a perfect pairing of tradition and pride.

📸 A once-in-a-lifetime moment for our department and community!
