𝑯𝒆𝒍𝒑 𝒚𝒐𝒖𝒓 𝒏𝒆𝒊𝒈𝒉𝒃𝒐𝒓𝒔 𝒂𝒕 𝒕𝒉𝒆 𝑳𝒂𝒄𝒌𝒂𝒘𝒂𝒏𝒏𝒂 𝑪𝒐𝒖𝒏𝒕𝒚 𝑭𝒊𝒙-𝑰𝒕 𝑭𝒂𝒊𝒓!

The Lackawanna County Environmental Office, in partnership with Johnson College and the City of Scranton, invites local experts and hobbyists to volunteer for our upcoming Fix-It Fair on Saturday, Nov. 14, at Johnson College. This community-driven event aims to reduce waste, extend the lifespan of household goods and teach residents practical repair skills.

We are looking for skilled volunteers with experience repairing:
🍞🔌 Small appliances and electronics
🚲⚙️ Bicycles and tools
👚🪑 Clothing, textiles, and furniture
📿⌚ Jewelry and watches

Today, we remember September 11, 2001, and the lives forever changed by that day.

The 9/11 Survivor Tree stands as a powerful symbol of resilience, remembrance, and hope. Damaged but still alive after the attacks, the tree was carefully restored and returned to the Memorial as a living reminder that even after unimaginable loss, life and hope can endure.

Make sure to take a moment to remember those we lost, honor the sacrifices of our first responders, and everyone who answered the call with courage.

Last week we held our second Wonderful World of Water camp for the summer. Thank you to the Scranton Times for stopping by during our water tank building challenge! Special thanks to all the amazing organizations who volunteered their time to provide fun, educational activities to our campers in both Wilkes-Barre and Peckville: Penn State Master Gardeners; North Branch Land Trust; Pennsylvania Environmental Council; Lackawanna River Heritage Trail; Lackawanna County Environmental Office; Lehman Sanctuary; PA DCNR Hickory Run State Park, Lackawanna State Park, and Bureau of Forestry; Lackawanna County PA 4-H; EPCAMR; and Valley Community Library.
