Hello friends!
I do apologize for the lack of posting as of recent. Life has been busy, and I’ve been contemplating what I really want to do with my photo collection. As my interests have shifted, so has my collection. My next steps are likely to start listing slides again on my eBay page (link will be posted here for anyone looking!), however please don’t think that is me giving up on this page. I look forward to transforming this page into a well put together archive of photos from tourist railroads, mainline steam excursions, and the days when steam ruled the rails (with a little smattering of just other things I like).

“For Transparency to everyone from a mechanic at Steamtown National Historic Site

BLW 26 is a slide valve Walschaerts valve gear equipped locomotive. The valve chests use copper ring gaskets much like the steam dome. Our engineer side copper gasket decided today was a great day to let its contents leak by.

Out of caution to not let lubrication and steam blow out while running causing more severe problems. Tomorrow and Sunday we are going to begin repairs with full intention on having the locomotive back in service this coming Saturday and Sunday.

Steam locomotives are near 100years old now and have headaches often. No worries though this will be a very quick fix and back operating soon enough.”

Due to unexpected maintenance on our Baldwin Locomotive Works No. 26 steam locomotive, short train rides inside the park are cancelled for tomorrow.

The 10:00 AM excursion to Carbondale Public Library's Spring Marketplace & Craft Fair will operate as scheduled, pulled by our historic diesel locomotive, the Nickel Plate Road No. 514.

Locomotive repair shop tours will be offered inside the park at 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.
