Competitors donned their dress uniforms, appeared before a panel of senior enlisted leaders, and were evaluated on military bearing, professional knowledge and confidence under pressure.

At the conclusion of the boards, three Soldiers were selected to represent the brigade at the Pennsylvania National Guard's state-level Best Warrior Competition at Fort Indiantown Gap in April:

• Spc. Garrett Harris (Headquarters Support Company) – Soldier of the Year
• Sgt. Isabella Aydin (213th Signal Company) – Command Sgt. Maj. Jay H. Fields NCO Leadership Award

A message from Command Sgt. Maj. Evan Melendez to all military families, friends, and Soldiers of the 55th MEB:

During this holiday season, I want to express my most sincere gratitude for all you have done to keep the Brigade moving forward, especially during these critical moments nationwide.

To our families and friends – without a doubt it is your unwavering support that helps our success. I certainly recognize the challenges military service may pose and would like to reassure you through shared communications and resources; we can overcome many obstacles. Thank you for being there for us!

To all Brigade Soldiers – having the privilege to engage with many of the organization’s finest, either during missions, IDT “drill” periods, pre/post deployments, or other events, I am convinced that given any task we are truly unstoppable. Let us continue that momentum! If I haven’t shaken your hand or given a fist bump during my visits, believe me, I have every intention to do so. Thank you for continuing to put on the uniform to serve our great country!

I am humbled and incredibly honored to be assigned as this unit’s Senior Enlisted Leader. With that, either while forward deployed, at home, service member or not, I hope everyone has a moment to celebrate this holiday season, whatever your cultural preferences may be.

“FOREVER VIGILANT!”
