I joined my colleagues in the Pennsylvania Senate Democratic Caucus in calling on Penn State University to respect the outcome of the graduate assistants’ union vote and move forward with good faith negotiations.

These workers followed a lawful process and made their voices heard clearly. Their decision deserves to be recognized.

Big Boy is in Lackawanna!!🚂🇺🇸

Thousands of people lined the tracks across Lackawanna County to catch a glimpse of Union Pacific Big Boy No. 4014 as it made its way to Steamtown National Historic Site. Built in the 1940s to haul heavy freight through the mountains of the American West, No. 4014 is the largest operating steam locomotive in the country and one of only a handful of Big Boys still in existence.

The locomotive is traveling across the country as part of a nationwide celebration of America’s 250th anniversary and is now on display at Steamtown National Historic Site through June 30.

For the first time in decades, Big Boy No. 4014 is reunited with Steamtown’s own Big Boy No. 4012, giving us a rare opportunity to see two of these legendary locomotives side by side.

Admission is free, but advance timed-entry reservations are required. Tickets must be reserved online before your visit and are available daily through June 30. More information and reservation details can be found in the comments…👇

I’m pleased to see the Lackawanna Historical Society receive a $56,000 Keystone Historic Preservation Grant through the Pennsylvania Historical & Museum Commission.

This funding will support restoration work at the Catlin House, including brick repointing, wood repairs and tile replacement, helping preserve an important piece of Lackawanna County’s history for future generations. Historic landmarks connect us to our past and strengthen our communities. Investments like these help ensure those stories continue to be told.

Over 50 years of service is an extraordinary achievement. Today, my Communications Director, Victoria Cole, joined Grace Berlew from Representative Jim Haddock’s office to present a Senate citation to Robert Aulisio in recognition of his remarkable dedication to the Old Forge Fire Department and the community he has faithfully served for five decades.

Over the course of his service, Robert spent 19 years as Fire Chief and continues to serve as President and a volunteer firefighter. His commitment, leadership and selflessness have helped protect generations of Old Forge residents and reflect the very best of public service.

Congratulations, Robert, and thank you for 50 years of dedicated service to the Old Forge community.

On Wednesday, June 10, the Senate Consumer Protection & Professional Licensure Committee reported three amended bills out of committee. The legislation addresses licensure requirements for medical imaging professionals, updates the composition of the State Board of Pharmacy and modernizes provisions relating to vehicle manufacturers, distributors and dealers.

✅ Senate Bill 1334 - Establishes licensure requirements for medical imaging professionals, radiation therapists and radiologist assistants. The bill was amended to make technical changes and add Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists (CRNAs) to the list of exempt practitioners.

✅ Senate Bill 1133 - Updates appointments to the State Board of Pharmacy and clarifies representation for pharmacists serving on the board. The bill was amended to require that two acute care institutional pharmacist members come from separate pharmacies.

✅ Senate Bill 1182 - Makes several updates to the Board of Vehicles Act relating to vehicle manufacturers, distributors and dealers.
