If someone you know is experiencing domestic violence, encourage them to think about their safety without pressuring them to make immediate decisions.

Offer to help them identify a trusted emergency contact, keep important phone numbers accessible, or accompany them to speak with a victim advocate if they ask.

Safety planning is personal, and trained advocates can help develop a plan that fits their specific situation. Find more resources at the đź”— in comments.

Some youth feel pressure to gain respect or status through aggressive behavior or association with groups.
Many risky decisions come from pressure, not intent.

âś… Positive mentorship can change that path.

Many older adults live alone or have limited social interaction. Unfortunately, isolation can make it easier for abuse, neglect, or financial exploitation to go unnoticed.

👉 A phone call, visit, or check-in with an older family member or neighbor can make a meaningful difference. Staying connected not only helps reduce loneliness but also creates opportunities to recognize when something may be wrong.

Protecting older adults starts with staying involved.

🍻 The best time to plan your ride is before the first drink. Good decisions are easiest to make before alcohol is involved.

Before heading out, decide how you'll get home safely. Whether it's choosing a designated driver, using public transportation, or scheduling a rideshare, having a plan eliminates the temptation to drive impaired.

A safe ride home is always worth planning for.

Grooming is a process in which an offender gradually builds a relationship with a child to gain their trust and lower their defenses. This can happen in person or online through social media, gaming platforms, messaging apps, or other digital spaces.

👉 Parents and caregivers can help protect children by staying involved in their online and offline lives.

👉 Ask about the games they play, who they're talking to online, and the adults they spend time with. Open, judgment-free conversations make it easier for children to speak up if something doesn't feel right.

Protecting children starts with staying connected. Find more resources at the đź”— in bio.

Many vehicle thefts and break-ins are crimes of opportunity. A few simple habits can make your vehicle less attractive to thieves.

âś… Always lock your doors, close your windows, and take your keys or key fob with you, even if you're only stepping away for a few minutes.

❌ Avoid leaving wallets, purses, electronics, fi****ms, or other valuables in plain sight, as they can quickly attract attention.

âś… Parking in well-lit, highly visible areas and considering additional security measures, such as a steering wheel lock, can provide another layer of protection.

Taking these precautions only takes a few moments but can help prevent hours of frustration and financial loss.

Violence is never a solution.

When guns are used to settle disputes, the result is always the same: lives lost, families devastated, and communities left to carry the impact.

There is no place for this in Lackawanna County. We remain committed to accountability, prevention, and ensuring those who commit violent acts are held responsible.
