All County Assistance Offices, the PA DHS Customer Service Center, and the PA DHS Helpline currently have a delayed opening to the public of 11:00 a.m. on Thursdays. Starting Nov. 5, 2026, they will have a delayed opening of 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays.

The public will not be able to enter offices and calls will not be accepted before 1:00 p.m. on Thursdays due to staff training. This will not impact hours of operation on other days of the week. Thursday delayed openings will continue for the foreseeable future.

Individuals can still submit an application or renewal, report a change, submit verification documents, and more anytime online at dhs.pa.gov/COMPASS.

Artist Brian Tresca of Lone Goat Studio this month held an Art Expression Workshop at the North Pocono Senior Community Center. Tresca works alongside Lackawanna County Area Agency on Aging each month to host a workshop at the center located at 12 John J. Michaels Drive in Covington Twp. This month’s workshop focused on creating a Halloween painting including an image from Edvard Munch's “The Scream” painting.

The PA Grandparents Raising Grandchildren Legal Line, 1-877-727-7529, is a statewide telephone-based legal service for Pennsylvanians age 60 and over who are raising their grandchildren or other kin children.

The Legal Line is staffed Monday to Thursday from 10am - 12pm. All legal services you receive from SeniorLAW Center will take place by phone.
