Larry Walker Jr showed up in court today to be sentenced in the Chase Enterprises Burglary of 2 years ago.
Larry appeared slouched in his chair in his orange jump suit. I was in Court to read a prepared statement before sentencing.
Here’s the victim statement I read aloud in Court. “Hello. My name is Allen Chase.
About 2 years ago, and over the course of 2 years previous to that, My company was burglarized on 4 different occasions. The first 3 resulted in tens of thousands of dollars in catalytic converters being stolen from my companies trucks. The last burglary was inside our building stealing tools, herbicides, and equipment totaling $80,000.
Some people look at this and think we can absorb it or it’s just a cost of doing business.
I’m here today with one of our employees Brandon. Branden came to work with us when he was 20 years old. Over the last 10 years he has become a pretty good mechanic, Even saving money to buy a brand new MAC tool box and fill it with tools. Never did he think he had to worry about anyone stealing his tools but he was careful to lock his tool box every night, just to be sure.
Mr Walker and his friend’s, After breaking into our building proceeded to pry every drawer of Brandon’s tool box open with crow bars. They literally destroyed his $11,000 tool box and took every tool inside it.
Brandon had no insurance to cover this theft and he has continued to come to work every day to earn the money to pay off these tools and buy new ones.
My company is out $80,000 from this last theft and over $250,000 with the ring of thefts combined. That’s money that could have gone to raises, bonuses or expansion, but instead it was turned into a few dollars for Larry and his friend’s to get high.
I have in my hand a receipt for a new security system we installed. $60,000 we paid to install cameras, access control doors, motion detectors, alarms, etc. I also pay a few hundred dollars each month to have this system monitored 24 /7. The cost of Larry Walker Jr to my company and its employees has been enormous.
I’ve read that since Larry was arrested for my thefts he has been arrested at least 5 more times for other crimes against our society.
He even had the audacity to message me on Facebook telling me I needed to be taught a lesson for posting about him. Something I took as a threat.
2-4 four years in prison seems like a far cry from what this man deserves. He is a menace to our society.”
Following my statement they judge told Mr Walker to sit up in his chair. This was a sentencing hearing not a lounge. Mr Walkers attorney asked for a Willard sentencing, which I understand to be a stay in drug rehab and then probation, in lieu of prison.
The judge flatly refused this. Next was restitution to be discussed. The DA informed me that offering a lower amount than $80,000 might be easier than another hearing where I would have to supply receipts for every item and argue whether it was Larry, or one of his friends that took it. I offered to reduce to $40,000 to put this to bed. Larry accepted the offer and the judge ordered restitution in the sum of $40,000 to be paid through, and under the supervision of probation. Larry suddenly had a change of heart when he head probation was going to be involved and he might not be able to ignore the judgement the remainder of his life.
Speaking of life. Several of the people described in these posts have died prematurely since this theft occurred. I have not posted about them out of respect to their family’s, but that is a testament to the seriousness of these activities and people.
The Judge questioned what had changed in 3 minutes regarding restitution and Larry, after realizing he would be arguing against my receipts of $80,000, he changed his mind again and took the deal. The DA agreed with me that We will likely never see a dime.
In the end, Larry was sentenced too his plea deal of 2-4 years in State Prison, with a Minimum of 4. I think that’s the Judges way of saying, you should sit up in my Court Room.
I’m glad to finally see this brought to some close, even though William Marcus Player was never charged in the case, even though I, and the Sheriffs Department, know he was the primary party.
It’s good to see some Justice served. I have to wonder what would have come of this, if I hadn’t been at every hearing and reporting on this site. Thank you all for reading and I hope all of you a crime free future.
Sorry no pictures I was expressly told to put my phone away The County does have good Orange Jump Suits.
