This morning members and honorary members gathered for our annual memorial service honoring the memory of the 6 men lost in the 1929 explosion. A prayer was held at the city park Memorial, followed by church service at St. John Ridgley.

Congratulations to Chris Meyer for receiving the Outstanding Firemanship Award. We’ve been keeping a secret, he was actually awarded this at the Nebraska State Fireschool a few weeks back, but due to last minute conflicts he was unable to attend, so we surprised him with it tonight at our annual appreciation supper.

Congratulations Chris, and thank you for your many past (and future) years of dedicated service to our department and the Scribner Community as a whole.

13 Scribner firefighters are out in Grand Island training at the NSVFA state fire school. Taking classes such as rural water supply, intro to firefighting, live fire and flashover, man vs machine, forcible entry and more. Great training to be more prepared and skilled to serve the community.

Bryant Emanual is a close friend of our department though a bond forged by training together at fire school the past several years. Bryant often communicates with us about best practices, equipment ideas or training suggestions. He shared some of his experience with fighting the Morril Fire in western Nebraska with the North Bend Eagle.

Bryant Emanuel grew up in North Bend, but through some career moves, found himself in Southwest Nebraska. As the captain of the Elsie Volunteer Fire Department, he and five others assisted in the fight against the Morrill Fire last month.

Read more about his experience in this week’s edition of the North Bend Eagle, available on newsstands at Medicine Man Pharmacy, Liquid Courage and the North Bend Mini Mart! You can also swing by our office and pick up a copy!

Thank you. Thank you. Thank you!!! Last night was incredible. The support we receive from the community is amazing!

Thank you to everyone who supported in any way big or small. From the guests who attended, to the business and people that made donations, to the Mark Vyhlidal Orchestra for awesome music setting the vibe, to family, friends, and community that helped us during the event. We could not do it without you! Cleanup is done, hopefully a little recoup and down time now.

Who's Ready for Onion Rings, Fish, and Chicken?!?! See you tonight!

Who's Ready for Onion Rings, Fish, and Chicken?!?! See you tonight!

TONIGHT’S THE NIGHT🐟🔥

The Scribner Volunteer Fire Department Fish Fry helps our fire department raise money for the equipment they need to keep our community safe.

Their jurisdiction covers 94 square miles😳
They respond to fires, traffic accidents, emergencies and every call that comes in, day or night. They also train tirelessly, learning how to respond to each and every crisis that could face our community.

And every single one of them is a volunteer.

No paychecks. Just neighbors showing up when it matters most.

So tonight is our chance to show them a little support.

Come grab some fish and help support the men and women who always put our community’s safety first🚒💙

Last year 1,714 people showed up for the fish fry. Let’s see if we can beat that number tonight. I have faith in your love of fried fish and/or chicken🐟
